Just to give an update on my car - I've been having an issue with the car stalling when moving from Park into Reverse or Drive (I have automatic). ... I have been playing with the idle advance trying to get more ... I put in the remainder of the AT fluid I had on hand and the car never died on shifting after that.

I have seen this problem in a lot of cars in the transmission world. If you can feel any kind of a bind before the engine dies there's a chance you might have a lockup problem with your torque converter. This is just an idea for somewhere to start.

2005 dodge ram 1500 2 wheel drive. 149201 miles. has the 4.7 liter v8. was running and driving fine down highway then truck died. pulled over and re started truck and truck idled fine in park but going...

Check your tranny fluid/gear oil. Also the tv cable may be broken.

1998 pathfinder never had a problem with transmission the all of the sudden it wont reverse about a week later still I reverse and now when I start it, it idels perfect but when I go to put it in driveit...

i would recamend a fluid and filter change and inspect trans pan for any large chunks on metal or clutch disk fibers

Reverse doesn't work. drive slips

Sounds like a transmission problem. It could be just electrical, but sounds like it may be partially internal with the reverse problem you are having. You need to take it to a trans shop, or the dealer.

Reverse died, engine HOT, drive lurches

I would have to say that your transmission failed. The Tranmission was trying to lock up and the engine was being forced to labor extra hard and that is what more than likely created the extra heat.

Transmission slipping,dies in drive

Hi there.Hope this can help.On the top of the transmission there's a black electrical plug that the shift linkage goes in..It sounds like the range sensor is out of adjustment..If you try going from reverse to like first or second does it still stall.You may have to get it adjusted.Does the selector in the car where it say P R N D 2 1 Line up with its indicator.
