SOURCE: 1992 Cevy Corsica: Boiling over out of overflow? Gage Normal

This can happen if you have a blown head gasket...cylinder pressure enters the cooling system, driving the coolant out. To check this have a shop do a hydrocarbon test for the cooling system. Problem can also be caused by a bad cap, so check that first.

SOURCE: my 98 has 1st and 2nd starts out in drive then

could be the shift solenoids in the transmission. Try pulling codes even if light is not on. Sometimes it will set a shift solenoid code if that is the problem. Very common in chevys. Good luck

check your kick down cable attached to the carb, it may be out of adjustment and forcing the trans to stay in "passing gear"

Will not shift into 2nd gear on a automatic trans

Trans shifts into gear harshly, car feels sluggish off the line, No 1st, 4th or TCC lockup available, Manual 2nd, 3rd and Reverse are only available gears, CEL is on: Transmision is either in limp-home mode or has lost electrical power. If there are lots of error codes in the PCM, check the underhood fuse that powers the transmission, and if it pops again, look for a short in that circuit like an O2 sensor harness touching exhaust. Otherwise, check PCM codes for a particular fault in the transmission causing the PCM to put it in limp-home mode.

What is "limp-home mode" ? This is a fault mode in which the transmission either loses electrical power or the PCM deactivates all of the electronics. The transmission will default to max line pressure. The driver will have Reverse and 3rd, with manual 2nd available by putting the gearshift in 2 or 1 (doesn't matter). 1st, 4th, and TCC lockup will not be available. It will not hurt the car to drive it like this for short periods, but use manual 2nd to get the car moving, and be aware that the trans will generate more heat than normal while operating in limp-home mode due to increased torque converter slippage during 2nd gear starts and no lockup in 3rd gear.

Thank you for using fixya and good luck

Sure sounds like the torque converter is bad to me. Usually after the fluid gets hot, this problem shows up. Specially since it's in ALL gears......sorry o;(>

Ford : back the truck up 10ft put truck in neutral and disengage four wheel low. (You can't drive in four wheel low cause its a pulling gear and you won't do over 3-5 mph.)
Nissan: start truck see if it idles normal. If so rev motor and check throttle for sticking and check EGR valve make sure its not stuck open or malfunctioning when you drive it..

1995 e300 d auto transmision

This is not that unusual for Mercedes cars of these years.
Try having the transmission oil filter replaced, and fresh fluid put in.
This may help some, but this may be something which comes with wear and tear.
Unless of course you are willing to spend a lot of money to replace the transmission.
