Location of the spare tire and tools
The spare tire and tools for your vehicle are stowed in the following
locations:
Item Location
Spare tire Under the vehicle, just forward of
the rear bumper
Jack assembly Under the third row bench seat in
the tool bag
Removing the jack and tools
1. Lift the 3rd row seat cushion.
2. Remove the jack assembly from the bag under the seat.

Removing the spare tire
1. Open the liftgate, locate the U-shaped slits in the carpet, and flip up
the piece of carpet to expose the hex nut.
2. Insert the lug nut wrench on the
hex nut in cargo floor.
3. Turn the wrench
counterclockwise until tire is
lowered to the ground and the cable
is slightly slack.
4. Remove the retainer from the
spare tire. It may be necessary to
lift one end of the tire to disengage
the retainer

How to take a spare tire off gmc envoy 2004

Since the spare is mounted under the rear of the car, Its not easy...you have to assemble the long crank rod out of its two pieces, then feed the rod through the hole in the top of the rear bumper and lock it into the mechanism that holds the tire in place. Once the crank rod is locked in, lower the tire towards the ground. Once the tire is low enough, you can crawl under the car and release the tire from its mount. The hardest part is locking the crank rod into the spare tire mechanism through the hole in the bumper.

I have had a 1995 Mercury Village for ten years. Recently I read about the spare tire cable hoist and plate rusting and the spare wheel falling off onto the street. I real road hazard. Mine is very rusted...

Hi.

Unfortunately Ford/Mercury did not issue any recall about the spare tire cable. Here all recalls concerning your van model: 1996 Mercury Villager Recalls.

A good solution would be replacing the spare tire nut and cable. A solution is getting an aftermarket replacement like the one below. That should be safe enough to allow you putting the spare cable back in place under the van without safety concerns. Click on the picture below to open the page.

Or click here.

Note: If the problem is not the spare tire nut and cable but the rod attached to the chassis you will need to carry a welding job to fix a new rod to the chassis. In that case the repair must be done at the garage. If the problem is nut and cable I suggest buying the part shown above or an equivalent.

Regards.

I cant get my 2002 trailblazer sparetire to release help

Even though the tire is beneath the car I believe the release is in the trunk. if the vehicles spare is located under the rear cargo area then there may be a hole located in the rear bumper next to the license plate. if the vehicle is equipped like that then there should be a few straight bars that attach together to form a long bar. this bar is then inserted into this hole and mated with a joint witch is connected to a pully system that raises and lowers the tire. if this didnt make any sense or if it is totally wrong then you could consult the owners manual. all of the necessary procedures are in that book.

I cant get the spare out from underneath. there

Check your Owners Manual for the location of the Spare Tire Release. Either underneath the carpet, or behind a cover: there should be a Nut shaped Spare Tire Release that you have to turn (should be counterclockwise) which turns the cable mechanism, which will lower the spare tire. Once the cable has been fully extended, pull the spare tire out from underneath the vehicle. Move the tire slightly back "up" onto the cable and turn the "cap" so you can fit the cap back through the hole in the middle of the tire.

How do I remove the spare tire from my Mercury Villager GS

Chances are the tire has "stuck" itself to the bottom of the frame of the vehicle. This happens when a new tire comes into contact with a clean metal surface and remains there under pressure for a period of time.

If you've unscrewed the holder, and can see that the mechanism is loose from the tire, then use your foot or a 2 x 4 or pipe or something and try to wedge/lever against the tire to break it loose. Make sure you arm, leg, foot, or had is not under the tire as it will likely fall to the ground, and those things are heavy.
