Had a rough idle and the engine dies while driving. Got a code P0505 Idle air control system malfunction. Replaced the pcv valve and the idle air control valve but it is still doing the same thing, check engine light is also back on.

The battery is only about 2yrs old.
After I replaced the IAC Motor it ran ok until I turned on the a/c then it started cutting out. It seems like the idle is set to low, I'm trying to figure out how to adjust the idle.

Not sure, have to get the code reader back(loaned it out). But it is doing the exact same thing as before I checked the code. If I pull the pcv hose off it will run fine.(Don't know if that helps)

The battery is about a year old, I got it at Auto Zone (I think). I replaced the IAC Motor and I am still getting the same code P0505 Idle Control System Malfunction, but on the OBD reader It said P0505 and then PENDING. ???

1996 honda accord rough idle and dies

Do the following

Here are the most common causes of idle surge, stalls at stops, slow idle speed, erratic idle speed, rough idle and engine hesitation (and other problems), it is in most cases the idle speed control air-bypass valve and or throttle valve and upper intake, these area's get full of gunk and combustion residue over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls, low idle) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake

Truck shuts down when it goes to idle

Hi.

Check idle air control system. The system comprises a valve that allow extra air into the engine when the engine is idle. If the valve is stuck, if there is a problem with IAC wiring or solenoid or if the vacuum hose connected to the IAC has a leak you get engine running rough and turning off when idle.

Check air intake and sensor (MAF and AIT). Replace air filter. Air intake problems may result in rich mixture and in engine turning off.

Check EGR and PCV valves. These parts may cause rough idle. When the problem is EGR or PCV you usually get troubles also when driving.

I have a 2004 Toyota Corolla and my check engine light is on. The code is P0505: Idle system malfunction. I have replaced the Idle Air Control Sensor and PVC (?) Valve and have no clue what else it could...

P0505 is correct, but replacing the IAC won't help if the PCM cannot control and/or monitor the operation

you need to measure voltage at the IAC and/or the signal return to the PCM

1999 dodge stratus car runs for awhile then dies check engine light comes on code P0505

P0505: Idle Air Control System

There is a small motor that controls the amount of air the engine gets when you aren't using the throttle. The computer uses this small motor to control your idle. It sounds like it needs to be replaced. You can try cleaning it first with some throttle body & air intake cleaner.

Engine code P0505 for 2002 honda odyssey

p0505 is directly related to the idle air control valve (sometimes called the rotary valve) i cant count how many of these i have replaced on hondas. It is located directly under the throttle body so it can be difficult to replace. I would recommend you having a professional replace this due to the difficulty of the valve removal
