Slow down warning typically is a bad coil, probably fouled sprk plg as well, read the code it will tell you which cyl, the last nuber on the code reading is the cyl.

Not familiar with volvo but had a pontiac years ago that had a shift up/down light that was only to maximize fuel economy (standard transmission)

SOURCE: Volvo S60 sensor ?

Sounds like an oxygen sensor (there are two). I had a recent problem where I had a rough idle and my S60 continued to stall out. Turned out to be the rear oxygen sensor. After replacement, car idles nicely and car drives normally.

The Check Engine Light is on? Did you read the DTCs.

The second link has the answer, the first link says it is a known issue. It is times like this you need the Dealership or a good auto electrician.

Check engine light car feels like its in high gear

The problem is most likely a PNP(shift position switch) problem. When this happens, the trans goes into limp home mode. The trans goes into high gear and doesn't allow any shifting up or down. This is to protect the trans.
