This is a bracket mount that has the axle shaft going thru it on the passenger side . the axle must be removed from mount before it can be removed . there is a single bolt that presses against the axle shaft bearing and a snap ring that holds the bearing in the mount once removed the axle will slide out .

SOURCE: Worn cooling system hose on Mazda 626 yr 1995 - 4 cylinder 2l

Disconnect battery, so no one will accidentally turn engine over while distributor is out, and be sure you don't turn it over by hand either for some reason. Number your plug wires, before you pull them off. Mark spots on distributor base & head for re-alignment. Remove distributor cap & mark distributor where rotor is pointing on top. Remove your hold down bolts and as you pull distributor out slowly, watch as is turns slightly & mark where rotor is after it's ready to come out, as that will be your starting point for re-installing so that rotor aligns correctly with first mark when distributor is put all the way back in. Distributor will rotate slightly as it comes out , and will rotate slightly the opposite way going back in, that's why the marks.

Testimonial: "Thanks for the very quick and clear response and for including the safety tips as well as the need to mark the rotor arm position twice. Excellent "

Turbine speed sensor

If you were replacing a speed sensor on a 1998 Mazda 626 where would it be located? You can find the vss by going under the car, on backside of transmission facing the floorboards. Right where the transmission mounts to the engine, near the motor mount you will find the vss which points upward......it is held in with a 10mm bolt and pulls out upward. I unfortunately snapped the bolt and took it out in pieces with a vise-grip. Good Luck! Bill in CT.

Im trying to replace the alternator on a 1999 Mazda 626

Yes, I experienced the same thing with mine... you have to losen the 2 motor mounts on that side and lift the motor up about 3 ". I worked at a garage so I had access to an engine hoist. Try using a jack from underneath. Nice engineering from Mazda!!!

Knocking sound

my solution to you is ask some one to check out your cvc joints cause once cvc joints go bad it starts to sound like your engines knocking but its the joints that are right next to the tire on the axel get under your car and look right behind the tire if there is a rubber here's a image of what the rubber on the axel should look like if its ripped or torn or even shredded thats your problem
