You are going to have to remove the interior door panel, I suspect the linkage between the handle and the latch is broken or has come apart inside the door.

SOURCE: Driver's side door power locks are stuck; door stuck shut.

sounds like the rods are disconnected the clips hold the rods in place the latching mechanism holds the handle in place as well did you replace the speakers or did a shop? if a shop did then they caused this if you did then you may have caused this either way untill you reattach the rods none of it will work. you will have to manually open the door at the latch from inside teh door behind the panel.

SOURCE: 2001 Ford Explorer Sport Trec - rear passenger door handles

only way to repair is to replace the handles. this is a common problem they use a toothed circle to work the lever and it wears and jumps a tooth basically and it will pop the tooth off if you push it back.so replacement is only fix

This should help. It is a set of photographs and instructions to do the job of replacing the handle.

Good luck.

Need to replace inside door handle that broke completely off. How do I replace this section?

you will need to remove the cover around the handle they are easy to brake from the inside of the outside cover ring go from the inside with a small screw driver and slide between and pry the cover up it has 4 mounting points top left top bottom right and left.
next pop off the switch from the front slide a screwdriver at the front leading edge and push it towards the back of the door panel and lift gently there is a flange on the rear of it that holds the rear of the assembly down dont pry up on the back lift the front and slide it forward unplug all the wires. remove the two screws inside the door arm rest where you pull the door shut. the cup to close the door. next you need to remove the mirror cover at the front top of the door panel slide a screwdriver pry
straight out. using a door panel clip tool. slide under the panel at the bottom rear corner to find the clip and pry the clip out of the hole. work your way around the door to each clip. sometimes you can pull the panel off with your hands but if you are not experirenced you might break some clips or the door panel be nice to it dont break things. all the way around the sides and the bottom are released then pull away from the door and hold the bottom and lift up and hit the top of the door handle with your hand so the clips will release accross the top. remove the light socket from the rear bottom of the door. place the panel somewhere so you dont scratch it up. now remove the rivet from the handle. I punch the center out then use a sharp chisel to punch it off. you may want to drill the rivet. up to you. then the handle slides forward and you have to disconnect the linkage clips from the handle. install the new handle make sure the lock rod is in the hole that slides the lock. hook up the linkages new slide back in position and rivet then reverse the prosess of removing the handle

How do you remove interior door handle form 1993 Ford Tercer The window won't roll up and I can't get the handle off to get the panel off to get to the window tract

It's easy!

  1. Remove triangle-shaped plastic cover Fwd of door window - gently pry it off

  2. Remove screw from the plastic cover behind door open lever

  3. Remove door lock plunger. (unscrew)

  4. Remove screws down inside the door pull hand-hold area

  5. Look for other phillips screws - sometimes around the lower 1/2

  6. Pry hidden plastic hold down fasteners from around the edge - pull the panel away from the door and where you see it 'stuck' to the door, slide a pry tool, a stiff putty knife works well, up in that area and pop the fastener off.

  7. Lift door liner enough to get to the mirror power connector and unplug.

  8. For some model years, with door panel loose, you can access the bolts / screws that hold the interior trim piece in place and remove.

  9. Remove Mylar cover for access to 3 Mirror mount studs, speaker screws, door lock actuators, window motors, etc.

  10. Remove nuts, (hold the mirror up from outside) and remove mirror. (Feed electrical harness through door openings as required to facilitate removal.

  11. Reverse order for installation.

Removing front door panels

gently pry out the plastic insert behind the inside door handle and remove the two black screws behind. gently pry up the plastic insert covering the brass screw at the bottom of the handhold and remove. gently pry up the window switch panel from the rear, and disconnect the electrical connector by pressing down the catch, and pulling out of the socket. remove the two brass screws holding the center of the door panel that are now exposed. remove the black plastic cover in the upper most forward part of the door by gently prying. the rest of the door panel is held on using snap clips. gently pry away from the door, and work the door handle through the door handle opening in the panel as you slide the door panel up and away from the door itself.

My door latch will not lock in to place. It is below freezing and I dont know if the door is broke or the latch is just stuck

Likely it's just stuck. Spray it with wd 40 or other solvent and make sure the latch hook is open. If it's not, pull the door release handle (like you are opening the door) and gently pry the hook back to the open position.

Sliding door stuck partially open

You would get to the door mechanism from inside the car. Yes the handle inside will have a screw or two. The inside paneling is held on with hidden poppers. The plastic of these will be brittle by now so you will break some pulling it off. You can get a sort of mini crowbar with a handle for leavering these off. Inside you will find the door sealed with polythene stuck down with sticky glue, peal that back to get to the mechanism. You will be able to operate the rods and whatnot. I expect a rod has fallen off.

Door will close but latch will not lock

Try and check the latch in the door sometimes they catch and don't open all the way it may take a screwdriver to pry it up or it could be a clip has broke inside the door on the trip mechenizm and won't let it hit the spring tension to lock it shut.
