If it is just the pump, not too awful. need to pull the right front wheel and remove some splash guards on the inner fender well.
Replacing the steering rack is alot more work.
Hope this helps.

Want to change Power Stearing Column

It is fairly straight forward except for the electrical that goes through the Column itself.

Be careful, I am assuming you want to change with a TILT?

Why do you want to change it ?

Put new belt on power steering

On the back side of your poer stearing bow the is a nut you have to loosen. It will take a 15mm wrench . Just loosen it off a couple of turn and th loosen the bolt you see on the top of your bracket. It will drop the power stearing pump down so you can get the belt on. Then tighten the bolt back up and it will tighten the belt. Make sure you have about a quarter inch of play in ya belt after tighting it. Then last but ot least tighten the nut back up and your ready to go.

How do you know if your power stearing pump is going bad on a 1998 ford expedition

When the power steering pump is going bad, you will be hearing a humming sound when you turn the steering while on idling and while driving at high speed.

At situations like this no repair can be done. Replacement is the recommended solution when you got a bad power steering pump.

Good luck and rate this.

Stearing

if the rack is leaking then the only option to repair it is to replace it with a remanufactured rack.the noise is probably the power steering pump because it is low on fluid.

Power stearing pump pully alighnment

Assuming that everything else is OK, first, sight down the belt/pulley arrangement and make sure that everything is aligned correctly. If the pump pulley is not lined up and the pump is a remanufactured unit, it is possible that they pressed the pulley either too far, or not far enough onto the pump shaft. (any machine shop can correct this). If any other pulley is in or out too far, either the component is incorrect or shims are needed to get proper alignment.
