92 4t60e transmission sometimes doesnt go in reverse

How does your transmission fluid look and smell? If it is dark and smells a little burnt, the transmission is very likely toast. If it is still clear and red, you should let a transmission specialist diagnose it.

A carrier bearing usually pertains to the differential assembly and would not cause the symptom you describe. There is a problem with this transmission that causes it to not drop completely to first gear after a period of driving. Ford is aware of it but I do not believe they have initiated a recall. Call your Ford dealer(s) to see if you can find an honest man. Ask for the service manager.

Sounds like your linkage is slipping and either needs to be replaced or secured and aligned.common thing on alot of mid grade cars since they use alot of plastic

I would try draining the fluid and changing the filter and fluid (with the oem spec fluid) this will give your tranny a lil more pressure to help engage the reverse , hopefully the filter is just plugged or gummy thus blocking fluid passage, its the easiest fix b4 going to the expensive tranny shop$$$ (they may also be able to adjust the pressure applied to the reverse bands, but ithey almost always seem to want to sell u a new transmission first so beware, try a few different shops to see if they can adjust the pressure, if the filter change doesnt help

if you are having a proublam with the transmission shifting when you put it in drive
the modgulator valve is what makes the transmission shift it is located at the rear
of the trans its round with a vacume line hooked to it the only thing that holdesit in
is 1 -- 1/2 bolt if this is not the proublam please let me no bob...

Transmission is failing the reverse gear has proved it. This is why the reverse is second gear in a automatic transmission that why at times if it can get pass second it can accelerate and go fast if it cant get past second then it slips as you drive, your second gear in this transmission is failed if you need to prove to yourself that the transmission has failed look at the transmission fluid my friend it is blackish or black it is burnt, leave the turbo out of the picture there is nothing wrong with it. as for the injection pump a ck engine light will appear and the code will be a lean bank EGI failure. leave the pump out there is nothing wrong with it. you transmission look at the fluid it burnt transmisssion has failed and is slipping

The transmission cable may not be hooked up properly...needs to be re adjusted at the transmission end.

hi changing fluid and filters sometimes cures problemiif not its probably reverse gear solenoid in gearbox .get a decent secondhand box if fluid change doesnt help.

Does the gear selector show that is in reverse? Does the transmission have gear selector solenoids on the transmission? If so, may be a bad reverse select solenoid. Do the 'backup' lights come on when reverse is selected?

im pretty sure your transmission is going out on the car.you say it wont move in reverse and has hesitation going forward...id say start looking for another transmission or another car
