Where is the ac orifice tube located in a volvo 240 93
Also at the part store they show 2 or 3 types almost look the same. Will there make a difference which one you use or do you have to mach the up?
Will the 740 have it in the same location?
I'm replacing the ac compressor and if yu don't replace the dryer & the orifice. The warrenty will be void. So I need to know where is it hidden.I'm replacing the ac compressor and if yu don't replace the dryer & the orifice. The warrenty will be void. So I need to know where is it hidden.
Re: where is the ac orifice tube located in a volvo 240...
There is no orifice tube, these system used a thermal expansion valve behind the dash in the passenger footwell. It should be easy to spot, they are usually covered in a black, tar-like substance.

I cant find my orifice tube location a 2007 dodge ram 1500 with a 4.7 engine. Might be better to put this in the 3rd gen Ram forum instead of 2nd gen Dakota.
The AC orifice tube on a 1997 Chevrolet Cheyenne 4.3 ltr vortec v-6 truck is located in the small inlet tube of the evaporator. The high pressure liquid line must be removed to gain access then the orifice tube can be pulled out with a pair of needle nose pliers.
Terry,I think its in the evaporator, some times in one of the condenser lines, Check the attached links,

Same post again? Look at two AC pipes entering heater box. One is low side (large) and one is high side (smaller). Disconnect the high side pipe union and inside the pie going into heater box is the orifice tube.
You'll need to have someone check the refrigerant charge with a manifold gauge.
If the low-pressure side is lower than it should be but the high-pressure side is normal or showing higher than it should, your orifice tube may be clogged.
Seriously, start by having the refrigerant pressures checked.
The orifice tube is located inside the liquid line where it connects to the condenser. This line is located on the passenger side of the car and has the low side charge port on it. this line unscrews right where the orifice tube is located... Hope this helps
the fixed orifice is located in the inlet tube to the evaporator core, this is where the small high pressure AC line from the compressor connects to the tube sticking out of the engine firewall, u will most likely need a special tool to remove it, here is a web link to the tool, don't damage the evaporator core by trying to remove the orifice tube without this if it is stuck down in the tube.
it is located in the high pressure AC line at the AC evaporator core inlet. The high pressure line is the smaller of the two AC lines that come from the AC compressor on the engine..
I'm replacing the ac compressor and if yu don't replace the dryer & the orifice. The warrenty will be void. So I need to know where is it hidden.
Jake Balice is incorrect. Volvo switched to orifice tube in 1991 on 240's
