Does a Ford stock amplifier (Premium Sound AM/FM Cassette) on a 98 Ford Expedition XLT draw power when the stock head unit isn't plugged in and a after market is ONLY wired to IGNITION POWER?
Need to wire the power wire for the amplifier to the remote wire on the aftermarket radio usually a blue wire on the after market radio
Ok let me say this, I DO NOT WANT the amplifier hooked up at all. With that being said, even though I took the stock stereo head unit out and replaced it with an after market stereo, will the stock amplifier still be drawing power? The after market stereo is hooked up to IGNITION POWER.
Also the after market stereo speaker wires are hooked up directly to external speakers
ok so as long as you dont hook up the power wire to your amp you should be good if it is hooked up just cut the wire and cap it off

SOURCE: Battery on 98 Ford Expedition doesn't hold charge
First thing I would do is have someone qualified disconnect the alarm and stereo and start over.
Chances are you have circuits cross-connected and something is draining the battery.
