Does a Ford stock amplifier (Premium Sound AM/FM Cassette) on a 98 Ford Expedition XLT draw power when the stock head unit isn't plugged in and a after market is ONLY wired to IGNITION POWER?

Ok let me say this, I DO NOT WANT the amplifier hooked up at all. With that being said, even though I took the stock stereo head unit out and replaced it with an after market stereo, will the stock amplifier still be drawing power? The after market stereo is hooked up to IGNITION POWER.

Also the after market stereo speaker wires are hooked up directly to external speakers

ok so as long as you dont hook up the power wire to your amp you should be good if it is hooked up just cut the wire and cap it off

SOURCE: Battery on 98 Ford Expedition doesn't hold charge

First thing I would do is have someone qualified disconnect the alarm and stereo and start over.
Chances are you have circuits cross-connected and something is draining the battery.

Can you replace a stock amp with a after market amp without rewiring speaker 2001 sport track

It depends on whether you have the standard audio system or a premium sound system. The standard system has no factory amplifier, the premium system has a factory amp and some other gimmicks that are hard to interface with. A proper OEM amplifier upgrade will require changing the factory speakers with stronger replacements, as well as adapting the factory head unit output to a signal your new amplifier will like. More often than not, it is more economical and better sounding to just change the factory speakers and run the replacements off your factory system. To drastically improve the sound system, it is more effective to just change everything.

Dodge durango stereo

The stock amp would be useless if you are going to uprate the rest of your system. Because you will play it louder. You could use it to drive the front door speakers, but I would remove it and fit an upgraded item that will actually improve your system. If you are going to install a new head unit then there is a very real chance that the amp in the new head unit will be better than the one installed by the manufacturer.

After market stereo in 1997 eddie bower ford expodition provides no sound

You should be using line out from your aftermarket stereo if using the vehicle's existing amp. Then again, you may choose to bypass it, depending on the power being put out by your new stereo.
In both the Expedition and Excursion, the sound systems are different than smaller Fords. The Eddie Bauer typically had the Premium sound system, and the wiring can get tricky with those. You want to make sure it's done right so you don't short out and damage the amp circuit in your new stereo.
If all you're using is the existing speakers, then go ahead and bypass.
