One of the wheel cylinders is leaking, pulling air back into brake system and it's going back to the4 master cylinder. Look for brake fluid leaking at one of the wheel cylinders, that's where the problem is.

SOURCE: Clutch pedal does not disengage clutch

If the car hasn't been driven for a while it could be corrosion on the fork but I think that is unlikely. I think you are right about the release bearing being jammed in the spring. If the truck has quite high mileage, it probably means a clutch job.

I keep a Holley Black Electric fuel pump around for just such occasions. If you happen to have an in-line pump layin around just hook it up and let her rip. Always works for me.

SOURCE: how to bleed hydraulic slave/master

Bleeding the slave cylinder is done just like bleeding your brake system.Just be sure that you keep enough fluid in the master cylinder so that you don't have to do it all over. Also make sure you have a steady stream of fluid.as you would with your brakes.

Hello i have a 1993 chevy cheyyenne k1500 pickup with a v6 4.3 its a manual and my clutch line broke off of my slabe cylinder due to a crack in it from ware and tear which leaked fluid all out and lost...

I changed the slave cylinder on my 97 Accord and all I did was disconnect the lines, disconnect the linkage from the pedal, move some stuff to get it out, hook up the new one, fill with fluid, and bleed the line to the clutch cylinder. Point is, if you have to remove the slave cylinder, that's fine. You'll have to bleed the system anyway. Like bleeding brakes. I didn't have to drain any "tranny fluid" as the clutch fluid was a separate system. Had a drain pan underneath to catch fluid.

If you can get a hand operated vacuum pump and seal it in place of the cap on the master cylinder apply vacuum and you will see the air bubbles being removed from the slave cylinder. It has always worked for me.

The clutch will not engage properly on my 1988 toyota pickup. Already replace clutch master cyclinder and clutch slave?

There are a couple of possibilities; worn clutch plate, failed pressure plate, possible hanging up of the throw-out bearing. Also, some hydraulic clutches have a throw adjustment on the slave cylinder that may need adjustment after replacing the slave cylinder.
If you plan on more DIY maintenance, I would highly recommend buying a Haynes service manual, you'll find the $25 well-spent:

How do you drain the clutch fluid reservoir on a 1988 Ford F150 pickup?

You don't, per se, drain it. First, locate the air bleeder screw on the slave cylinder and crack it loose, then snug it back down just enough to not leak.

Then, with a helper, bleed the old fluid out and add new fluid as the level in the master cylinder goes down.

When you have clean fluid coming thru the bleeder screw, make sure there isn't any air in the system and tighten the bleeder screw.

Make sure, as you perform the bleeding process to not let the cylinder run out of fluid.

Wont shift into gear

Was the fluid low? Does the pedal have any resistance? does it feel normal? Did it happen all of a sudden? Does it shift into gear with the engine off? You say it doesnt shift into gear, but does the shifter move into gear or not? Or it does and the truck wont move? Sounds like maybe the SLAVE CYL isnt operating? leaking? theres more questions to answer.

Clutch pedal goes to floor

Its sounds like a bad clutch cylinder or bad slave cylinder or fluid leaking. First check brake fluid level in clutch master , and check for a leak in clutch system. If there are NO leaks, then you either have a bad clutch cylinder or a slave cylinder. Bleed clutch at bleeder screw on slave cylinder and make sure there is pressure from master cylinder. If there is pressure then slave cylinder may be bad replace slave and bleed and that should take care of you problem. If master is bad then replace bleed system ad you should be good. Contact if you need more help. Thanks for using FIX YA.

Clutch problem

Open bleeder at slave. Push down on pedal and hold. Tighten bleeder and repeat until fluid is present. Then pump up and bleed remainder of air. Requires two people.
