1988 Bronco II transmission pop out of 1st gear

Recently added Lucas gear oil additive to 5 speed trans to quiet 3rd and 5th gears. It worked! However, it started to pop of of first gear when I am not consciously placing it in gear. Don't know if Lucas gear oil did this or if it is caused by something else.

There are dent and brass balls that are in your transmission and are used to hold the shifter into each gear when it starts poping out of that means that those dents and brass balls are worn down and i would suggest getting the transmission rebuilt.

Try using Lucas transmission fix. This product works great. Check your tranny fluid first (warm engine in park) it must be red and not black (contaminants) and not light pink and foamy (water), both require a visit to a transmission shop.
Before adding the Lucas, if your tranny level is normal, you MUST remove the same amount of tranny fluid as the amount of Lucas you are putting in. You can use clear plastic tubing that will fit into the fill tube and siphon it out. It could also be that your detent cable needs to be adjusted. You will need to get instructions on how to to this. It is fairly easy to adjust. It will be a cable connected to the throttle body.

1988 Ford Bronco II shifts into 1st and 3rd gear hard and some times pops out of gear.

Sounds like the first and third gear synchronizer is worn out.
You might want to talk to a transmission shop to confirm.

Transmission oil was low, so we added to fill level and it helped for 1st, and a little in 3rd, but still no 5th gear

Assuming this is a manual shift transmission then 5th has probaly melted due to no lube.5 th gear is smaller on the countershaft and does not dip into the sump as far.So it is the first to loose oil when trans is low.If this is a 5 speed auto like on the 04 up accords and odessy vans then clutches are most likely damaged.Either way you are gonna need transmission repair.Good luck!

If the whine is there than the main bearing is already worn adding fluid will not save it, you will have to swap it or rebuild it. sorry i know you were hoping for something better.

I have an 86 ford bronco II. Ive been driving around with the tranny not going into 4th gear. Today I was driving and the tranny started to completely slip into 3rd gear, almost like going into neutral....

I would have to say no,there is nothing else you can do now. Does the fluid smell burned? Is it discoloured? If it is ok now after the top up and additive ,consider your self lucky.

5-speed transmission making noise in 3rd and 5th gear

are u sure the alignment (side to side, up and down) of the trans on the bell housingis not out of spec, that will burn the bearings out very quickly.

Ford Bronco II standard tran. Has no 1st or 2nd gear.

Replace the transmission fluid. I think those used ATF, but check to be sure. (if you made the mistake of using 80/90w drain it...those transmissions were not designed for 80/90w. gear oil)
