1992 Taurus LX 3.0 liter engine Vin code U engine - starts and idles fine but hesitates and stalls during acceleration. Unable to restart until 5 to 10 minutes later, then runs fine. What is wrong? I've read that it might be an engine coolant temp sensor. Already installed idle air bypass valve, spark plugs, wires, rotor and distributor cap but no improvement.

Karl, have you confirmed good fuel pressure? It sounds like a weak fuel pump to me. Is your Check Engine light on? If so what are the codes in the computer?
BEST CODE SCAN CAR CHECK FOR FAULTY EGR VALVE COULD BE STUCK OPEN.THE IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE NOT WORKING.FAULTY ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR NOT WORKING CAUSE COLD HARD START PROBLEMS.
Hello,
When the MAF on most vehicles reach a point of preventing the engine from starting, you can usually just unplug it and the engine will start. If that doesn't work-
You may want to try having the O2 sensor, ( Oxygen sensor ), checked. It works with other components of the emission system and can cause similar symptoms as the MAF, including preventing the engine from starting.
Sounds like a cold start valve (which is actually an additional injector in the intake to assist in cold starting) If you can get it to your local prts store while the light is on they will read the codes for free and tell you what the car thinks is amiss.
could be the type of plug you are using.I was told only to use ngk plugs.I recently put bosch plugs in my mazda 3 and the check engine light came on and it started missfiring.
Im having the same issue I believe. I have a 94\' Chevy 1500 and when i accelerate it will jerk like the gas has cut out but it wont stall. It just jerks and slows me down. It only seems to do it when going up a hill. I feel like it could be the fuel pump or possibly some intake gaskets?
Wow!!! Now that's a headfull of problems....
This could be a great many things...
Check these before you sell. I have a '93 Aerostar and can't live without it.
1. Check idle speed
2. Fuel filter may be clogged or water in the fuel system.
3. Choke improperly adjusted or sticking.
4. Distributor components damp or damaged.
5. Faulty emissions components.
6. Faulty or incorrectly gapped spark plugs/ Also check wires.
7. Vacuum leak at the carburetor/fuel injection unit or vacuum hoses.
8. On 1986 models, stalling during idle or deceleration may be caused by sludge in the throttlebody. (2.3 litre engine)
9. On 1986 & 1987 models with a 2.3 litre engine, hesitation or stalling during acceleration may be caused by carbon build-up on the intake valves.....I hope this helps!! Adios

Car idles fine but will not accelerate when you press on the accelerator. Replaced fuel filter, & fuel pump, & plugs.
What is a MAF sensor?
Shakes and hesitates on acceleration
