Everyone is missing the main thing here, you just WASHED the motor. You got water in the ignition system. It would be helpful if I knew which motor you had, 2.3, 2.5, or 3.0. If you have the 2.5 or 3.0, you should remove the distributor cap and spray some WD-40 in it, let it dry, and reinstall. WD-40 was a military invention, and the name stands for Water Drier-40th formulation. It was designed to displace water and lubricate to prevent rust where the water was. If you have the 2.3, you will have to remove the 4 bolts that hold the cover on the top of the motor, unplug the electrical connector at the end of that cover, and lift it straight up off of the motor. Underneath the cover you will find what they call the coil cover. This actually acts as your spark plug wires, distributing the energy from your ignition coils (there are 2 under the coil cover) to the spark plugs. There are 4 "boots" that probably stayed on your spark plugs when you pulled the cover off, you will need to remove them from your spark plugs and put them back on the coil cover when you are ready to reinstall it. You will find 6 VERY SMALL BOLTS holding the coil cover on the main cover, remove them and the coil cover will easily come off. Dry the inside of this as stated above with the other 2 engines, allow to dry, wipe it out and return it as you removed it.
