Won't accelerate past 40 miles per hour

My 1998 Grand Cherokee won't accelerate past 40 miles per hour. New spark plugs, added fuel cleaner. It has a crack in the exhaust pipe. Can that be the cause? Someone told me it could be the throttle position sensor?!

I Have a 91 YJ 4L 6 cyl. My fuel consumption has dropped dramatically since about 2500km ago when I did a service. New oil and filter , fuel filter, serp belt, spark plugs, injector cleaner in tank, thermostat, K&N air filter, new temp sensor. I am getting about 80 to 100 km less per tank. I have also inspected the fuel lines and replaced the exhaust system and o2 sensor. Please help.

These jeeps did have a small problem with the tp sensor. i would also have the back pressure of the exhaust checked to see if you have a catalytic converter choked up.

Get the codes pulled, sounds like you are in limp mode and I am guessing an issue with the transmission.

Ck your exhaust pipe at rear of car noting any obnoxious smell like rottrn eggs. Hold a piece of paper, I use a dollar bill ,in in front of the exhaust. If it blows the paper gently, you have a catalyctic converter going or is bad. Will need replace if so.
