No air coming out of the dash vents, only the defrost and floor. There was a clicking noise before it quit all together. Could it be the HVAC mode actuator?

You have a problem with mode mode control switch, it is either leaking vacuum or has no vacuum to it, all of the different modes are switched using vacuum operated air door motors to send air to the selected outlet, i.e. floor, dash. defrost or a mix.

HVAC blend door or control module?

The symptoms you describe, such as the flashing amber light on the defrost knob, loss of airflow, and clicking sounds when opening the driver's door, suggest a potential issue with the blend door or the blend door actuator in your HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) system. The blend door is responsible for directing the airflow between the various vents, including the defrost vents, dash vents, and floor vents.
Here are some steps you can take to further diagnose and address the issue:
1. **Blend Door Actuator Inspection:**
The clicking sound you hear when opening the driver's door might be related to the blend door actuator. The actuator is a motorized component that controls the position of the blend door. Check if the clicking sound is coming from the actuator. If you can access it, inspect for any visible damage or obstructions.
2. **Check for Obstructions:**
Sometimes, foreign objects or debris can obstruct the movement of the blend door. Check for any visible obstructions in the HVAC ducts.
3. **Perform HVAC Self-Test (if available):**
Some vehicles allow you to perform a self-test on the HVAC system. Refer to your vehicle's service manual for instructions on how to initiate a self-test. This may provide additional diagnostic information.
4. **Inspect Wiring and Connectors:**
Check the wiring and connectors associated with the blend door actuator and the HVAC control module. Ensure there are no loose connections, damaged wires, or corroded connectors.
5. **Professional Diagnosis:**
If the issue persists after the above checks, it may be advisable to seek professional diagnosis from a qualified mechanic or a Jeep dealership. They can use diagnostic tools to retrieve fault codes and perform more advanced testing on the HVAC system.
6. **Consider Blend Door Calibration:**
In some cases, the blend door may need recalibration after a control module replacement. Refer to your vehicle's service manual for instructions on how to calibrate the blend door system. Calibration procedures can vary between vehicle models.
It's worth noting that even though you replaced the control module, the issue may still be related to the blend door actuator or the blend door itself. The clicking sound when opening the door suggests that there may be a connection.
Remember to consult your vehicle's service manual for model-specific information and procedures. If you're not comfortable with the diagnostic process, seeking assistance from a professional mechanic is recommended.

I have a 2003 envoy xl. heat and ac only come out driver side defrost & left vent.No air or heat out of driver or passenger floor .Passenger vent and defrost is cool air only

Air temperature and delivery are controlled via small actuators on the heating, ventilation & air conditioning (HVAC) box located behind the dashboard. These actuators operate doors inside the HVAC box in order to channel air through different passages to achieve the desired result. A "blend" door actuator can channel air through the heater core, around the heater core or a mix of these two to achieve the desired temperature. A "mode" door actuator can direct airflow to the ducts that lead to the defrost vent, front vent, floor vent or a mix between. When a vehicle has dual climate control (where driver and passenger sides of the vehicle can have different air temperatures) there can be multiple of actuators of each type which can make diagnosis difficult. The first step would be to retrieve diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) from the HVAC Control Module using an advanced level scan tool; these codes help determine the location of the issue and if it's an electronic or mechanical failure. Electronic failures would include items such as HVAC control module failure, actuator circuit failure or actuator failure. Mechanical failures would include items such as actuator failure or internal HVAC box door failure. My car is a 2001 mercury grand marquis. My heat and air works but i get very little air coming into the cabin. I ran a self test on the eatc but did not get any errors.

Blend door only regulates the temperature of the air coming through. Mode door operates to direct airflow to floor vents, dash vents, and/or defrost vents. I would check for obstructions to the airflow - look in the cowl area above the firewall where the air is drawn into the HVAC system. A lot of leaves and tree trash can accumulate in 18 years. Also check to see if you have better airflow when you select "recirculate". If so, it would seem your problem is in the intake cowl area.

What makes a Clicking noise coming from dash board on the passenger side?

Possibly an actuator in your HVAC system. There are actuators to move the blend door, mode door, recirc door, and possibly others depending on your HVAC options (climate control, dual control, etc). With your car running, can you change the temperature from cold to hot and back, and can you direct airflow to floor, defrost, and dash vents? When you select recirculate (max a/c), can you hear the change? If you have problems with any of these, you may need to replace an actuator or one of the doors may be jammed.

The air only comes out of the circle vents on dash, not the defroster vents or floor vents. I have a 2005 Pontiac G6 base model and I am not sure how to fix this issue

In side you dash is a electronically controlled actuator call a mode actuator , it controls which vents the air comes out of ! They go bad, plastic gears in side of it wear out, a lot of times you'll hear a clicking sound in the dash. They are not to tough to fix ,you need to take Instrument Panel Insulator Panel off - Left Side under dash . Some times stuff drops down in an binds up the door inside .Have a little child , they like putting stuff in the vents ,pencil's an the like.

MY 2005 FORD MUSTANG V-6 THE AC ONLY BLOWS THRU THE DEFROST VENTS ?

  • Do you hear any clicking noise form in the dash ? Sounds like the mode door actuator mite be bad or stuck or the HVAC control module isn't controlling it. The ford service repair information manual has a long drawn out test procedure PINPOINT TEST B: INCORRECT/ERRATIC DIRECTION OF AIRFLOW FROM OUTLET(S) You would have to take some of your dash apart to get at the wiring connectors on the back of the HVAC control module . You need a volt- ohm -meter to do some testing : first thing is to

No air coming out the dash vents. Air does come out the floor vents and defroster vents

{: ) You didn't mention which vehicle model you have, but anyway, check and make sure your control setting is not on defog or defrost. When the HVAC system detects a fault or inconsistencies in the actuator feedback circuits, the HVAC module will default the position of the mode actuator to the floor vents. Usually the fault is caused by the mode actuator itself, or it could be that the actuator doors are blocked or binding, and wiring or terminal connections come next on the list.
If it is an actuator door issue, the HVAC Blower Module should be removed and disassembled. And this also means removing the whole instrument panel which is a big job. I just hope your case doesn't go this far.
For the meantime, what you can try is to recalibrate the actuators. Turn a/c and ignition off. Turn ignition on and wait forty seconds ( don't move any HVAC controls during this period). Afterwards, you may start the engine and check operation. If not successful, a scan tool is the next option, to retrieve any codes set, and to perform actuator recalibration.

I changed the battery on 2006 Trailblazer SS. Now I can only get AC from my windshield and floor vents. Nothing from the dash vents. Also the temp control only gives coldest temp. I have checked fuses...

once you disconnect the battery your body control module loses power and memory you have to get some one with a scanner with reprogramming capabilities and have the computers reset ,dealer?

2006 slt gmc envoy ac problems vent controls anbd

{: ) The popping sound you heard is caused by the sudden movement of an HVAC door, most probably coming from the recirculation door actuator (right dashboard area) or the mode actuator( mid dashboard area). The fan outputs could be normally working, but is being muffled by the incorrect positioning of the HVAC doors, giving an impression that there is fault in the blower controls. In other words, your vehicle is having an air distribution issue.
If there's no conflict in your climate settings, then the trouble may be in the HVAC doors binding or broken, or the actuators faulty or sticking. In both cases, servicing may involve removal of the dashboard to access these HVAC components.
