I have a 1993 lexus LS400. Replaced the timing belt, distributer cap, ignition button, plugs, wires, fuel pump and crankshaft sensor. After replacing the timing belt the car ran great for a few days. It started to shut off while driving it, the check engine and traction control light will flash on and the car will shut off. It usually starts up afterwards but the problem got worse. Now it cranks but will not start, I changed the ignition componets along with the crankshaft sensor. It still won't start. Can you help me solve my problem?

Hey there Floyd. Did you ever do a OBDII scan on it? If so, I still need the codes. Are you getting fuel and an injector pulse? Have you experienced any backfires since you changed the timing belt? I know the cam sensor can cause this issue, but it wouldn't explain the traction light coming on. It could also be seperate issues. Them lights flashing usually means major engine failure as well. But the computer can cause all this if it is bad. We will get to the bottom of this and for the time being, send me back some answers. Anything else you know going on, send it as well.

1994 Cadillac DeVille. Why is it sputtering, backfiring and shutting off while driving?

Could be one of several things:
  1. Bad ignition coil or coil wire;
  2. Bad plug wire(s);
  3. Timing belt slipped or broke;
  4. Static timing off (unlikely, unless distributor came loose);
  5. ECU defective;
  6. Contaminated fuel (requires complete fuel replacement);
  7. Bad crankshaft position sensor;
Best place to start your diagnostic is by reading out stored codes using an ODB-II reader, and check the systems indicated by the codes.

I have a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. I replaced the crankshaft censor, the camshaft sensor, and removed the alarm system module. It will not start. I also replaced the distributor cap rotor etc.

dont just replace parts and hope--u must target the area--a data stream run w factory gear is really helpful--a code reader is usually not enough-----the module u took out is connected to ignition----inspect coil-plug wires--ignition module--distributer cap may be worn inside--look for any loose wiring in engine area----may need a fuel pressure test--regulator and pump cud be worn---basic spark and fuel hardware are the weakest links

No spark onj no 4 cylinder have replaced everything from module to plugs have trigger signaleven

cam/crankshaft sensor? plug wires, coil? Has to be coil, wire, plug, ignition module, distributer / cap/ rotory button inside cap. You can find faulty coils bought new. New autoparts can be shipped from factory with defect.

Have a 94 Dodge. Ram 250 van with no spark replaced plugs wires distributer cap and button also fuel pump still nothing.

Why would you replace the fuel pump because your engine has no spark??? - Just asking....diagnosis by parts replacement is the EXPENSIVE way to do it.

Anyway, have you checked for ignition voltage at the coil? Did you check to see if there was spark at the coil?

CHECK FOR SPARK AND FUEL.IF ALL IS GOOD A BAD COLD START VALVE WILL CAUSE COLD ENGINE START UP PROBLEMS COLD START VALVE DOES SAME JOB AS ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR IT ENRICHEN FUEL SYSTEM FOR COLD START UPS. DO LITTLE TUNE UP MAKE SURE SPARK PLUGS AND WIRES GOOD, REPLACE DISTRIBUTOR CAP AND ROTOR,CHECK IGNITION TIMING, REPLACE AIR FILTER AND FUEL FILTER. IF CAR GETTING FUEL AND SPARK.CAR TIMING BELT COULD HAVE JUMP TIMING IF TIMING BELT NEVER BEEN SERVICED OR REPLACED.

Car wont start, not getting spark

crankshaft sensor, or computer on toyotas then it was usually the distributor or the computer, but the crankshaft sensor might be bad too thats what helps to get you spark.

Hi ,I have a chevy blazer s-10 1993 and she won't start ,I change :spark plugs ,cap ,rotor , spark plug wires, fuel pump (58 psi) injectors (spider)internal hoses, starter and battery. but still my truck...

Find the pressure test port (looks like a tire valve) on the fuel distribution rail over the injectors and place a can over the open end of the valve. Press the inner pin to release fuel into the can. If the pressure seems to fall rapidly, replace the fuel filter. Is the check engine light on? Rent a scanner, read any code(s), and pursue to repair(s). A bad crankshaft sensor or camshaft sensor can prevent the injectors from firing fuel into the engine.
