Engine warning light does not come on in town driving but on highway and under accelleration warning light comes on. Goes away when engine turned off but reappears in circumstances described above.

May be the oil pressure sensor is bad, but i think it is worn or damaged oil pump.. Try to replace the sensor, if no change, then the pump or all the engine is bad - so replace or rebuild it..
The gasket or large o-ring on the under side of the cap might be warn not keeping a tight seal. replace gasket or o-ring, or get a new cap, and see if that cures it.
