It seems like I blew a fuse, I was driving and everything just went dead. I've got no power at all. also some smoke came out from under the dash. someone said it might be the main battery fuse????
Does it exist, and where is it??????
I've had a similar problem: cut out unexpectedly, starter still cranked, but engine would not fire. All mechanical parts looked ok.
Solution: Turns out the ECU (engine control unit) had shorted out internally, a large capacitor on the ecu board crapped out. ECUs are complex and can't really be line tested, but mine had a obvious burn mark visible once disassembled. Take out the ECU, first remove driver-side kick panel w/ 10mm socket & philips screwdriver. Detach hood lift cable and panel rheostadt. Look underneath for a brass box about 10cm x 10 cm x 3cm. Each model is wired differently, mine had 3 large plugs for wiring. Take it out and open the case. If you see any burnt components, replace the ECU and see if it works. (of course, check each fuse in the kick panel and main fusebox under the hood before you buy a new ECU as they cost about 200$)
There is no such thing as a main battery fuse.
seems like a wire has come undone under the dash and shorted your car out.
