How do you fix missfire on cylinder 4 on 2001 s-type jaguar

If you have Individual COP Ignition Coils, thenreplacing the bad coil or several coils, if necessary, should resolve the issue with misfiresYou can not just expect the PO304 code to be cylindernumber 4 with the misfireIt may be this time & it may not be,so you need to have it checked with the proper test equipmentThat said, if the car isn't drive in hot weather & at least20 miles, they may not find the problem or just throw partsat it, & take your moneyJust a couple of things to keep in mindYour car & some fords have similar issues, as fordonce owned & stole some jag technology.

Jag 2001 s type turns over but won't start

Hi there:You will have to pinpoint what the engine is missing... spark / fuel / compression. All three of these are tested when the engine is being cranked over. There are two way of checking for fuel. Fuel pressure and fuel trigger. Both are very important and must be present for the engine to start. Fuel pressure is self explanatory. You just hook up the gage and see what the reading is. Fuel trigger is check with a noid light. The injector gets unplugged and the noid light gets plugged in to the injector clip. With the engine cranking over, this light must blink. This is the signal to the injectors from the computer. You can have all the fuel pressure in the world, but it wont matter if the injector is not pulsing gas into the cylinder like it should.Compression tester, spark tester, fuel pressure gage and noid light are all accessible at your local auto store. All three tests play a very important part in diagnosing a no start condition. Be extremely careful when doing these tests.Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.Thank you for using FixYa, have a nice day.

Missing on acceleration

Remove the air cleaner/intake boot, remove the wipers and upper cowl, remove the crossbeam suport bar (under wiper cowl)
Remove the throttle bosy connectors, remove the bolt on the front lower suport bracket, remove the bolt on the lower side bracket (below intake shock side)
Rthe 8mm nuts on the back where you will see a round black metal bracket, remove the 8 intake 8mm bolts, note they are different sizes, short and long and also they have a rubber washer that sticks to the intake, take care not to loose/drop any of these, especially in the engine.
Life the intake, you dont actually have to remove it completely.
Replace the 2 intake strip gaskets and if it is missing is probably the coil onplug that is bad no the spark plug.

How do you check the transmission oil?

If it is an automatic, there will be a dip stick by firewall. If it is a manual transmission, there will be a hex nut on the side of transmission case to remove. Remove it with a 3/8" rachet and insert you finger to see how low it is. It should be full if you take the hex bolt out and insert finger and the fluid would be right there at the base of the hex bolt hole.

Check engine light is not on...ever... Is it possible bulgb in dash is burned out? is there a specific fuse? a cable to disconnect if someone was being dishonest?.Appreciate any thoughts and what is

Well you did not specify you were having vehicle issues.Yes the bulbs do burn out, easy to change. Yes dishonest people remove bulbs or disconnect to sell a vehicle or what ever sneaky reason. After unscrewing all needed to remove plastic cover you are able to pull out the dash console. Be careful when doing so because if it is digital then you can accidentally unhook the speedometer line,, I did that once,,LOL Anyways, there are connectors on the back and each connector will have a co existing bulb right around it. Pull the bulbs out one by one and see if it looks burned, you can tell between a good one and bad one. Also you can see if any of the connectors were unhooked. There should be a fuse for the dash lights as well. Check that. Remember just because a fuse looks good it does not mean your not having fuse box issues. I have seen good fuses but the connecting wires behind fuse box were having electrical problems. I have seen where people had to by pass certain parts of the fuse box-tying in to other wires to allow power to something else. There are many thoughts on your question. For most important thought is, are you having vehicle problems to even ask this question? Or are you just curious?
