What can drain the battery with no load on

Any kind of small light bulb like vanity mirror lights and the like. Check very light to make sure they are not on, glove box, under the hood all. If you haven'that's the battery tested do that as well and clean the top of the battery. A dead cell can draw the battery down.

2001 jag stye turns over but won't start what could be the problem?

It could be as simple as a bad fuel pump or clogged fuel filter to something more in depth like a broken timing chain or bad sensors. Check the Fuses first to make sure they are all good then check the relays under the hood. If the fuses are good and the relays then spray some starting fluid into the air intake, If it fires then the problem is a fuel pump or filter if it doesn't you are going to have to test the Crank and cam position sensors to find the bad on and the coil pack.

2001 S Type V8- moderate

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome. That is possible. More then likely, it is a associated with the valve lifter. If it was a rod, you would hear a knocking sound compared to the ticking sounds a bad lifter gives off. As far as which lifter it is, the only way to know for sure if by taking off the valve cover and examining the lifters. You are in the right area though. Check your lifters and you should fine what is causing the ticking. Put all your focus on that area. Your friend sounds like he knows what he is talking about so he may be able to help you work on it if you are not able.

How to get into trunk if battery is dead on a 2001

There should be a positive jumper cable terminal under the hood. Use another car and jumper cables to power the Jag and the trunk latch should work.

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome to the site. You may have a freon line leaking somewhere or it may just need freon. You should buy a can to make sure or test what is in the lines, test your pressure. You may also have a compressor going bad as well.

Where is the headlight fuse

Hello Imntbll9,
There are 3 different fuse boxes in the 2001 Jaguar S Type vehicle and all of them are on the passenger side of the vehicle. The First One is called "Front Power Distribution Box" and is located under the hood on the passenger side of the engine next to the generator. The Second One is called "Primary Junction Box" and is located in the passenger foot area near the door jam. The
Third One is called "Rear Power Distribution box" and is located in the trunk of the vehicle next to the battery. These are the three places in the vehicle you will find the fuse boxes. The headlight fuse is in the "Front Power Distribution Box" and if you were to stand on the side of the car next to the right front tire and look down at the Front Power Distribution Box #7 in the middle farthest away from you on the box should be the Front Fog Lamp Relay. From here there should be a diagram on the box to let you know exactly which fuse will be the headlights such as high beam and low beam and from there it should give its exact location and color of the fuse as well as the number of the fuse fore example such as blue 15 etc... I do hope this will help you. Thank you j_berry06

I bought a new fob

The s-type one is the only remote that you need the dealer tool to program. We usually program it for free for our customers. But dealers will charge you $50-$150. sorry there is no back door to program it yourself.

Battery light on continuously.

if a battery light is on you can start by checking the battery cables if they have a green is white crud on them you can use a can of nasty diet coke to clean them off just pour it on them it will clean them off then you can look to see if the belt for the alternator is still there if all is well there your going to have to have the battery and the alternator tested if you dont have any tools or know how to do the job its best left to a pepair shop if you have tools and know how any auto parts store can test them for you for free.
