Check your coolant level as well as your coolant temp sensor.

No , they are different. Manual transmissions require a clutch that engages with flywheel, thus manual transmission flywheel is much thicker/heavier and designed to mate with clutch assembly. Automatic is thinner/lighter as they only have to mate engine to torque converter.

Main relay is the first item to inspect.

It sounds like you did everything correctly, the only 2 things I can think of is:
Check contacts in reverse lamp housings and they're grounded
And how about new bulbs?

What all have you tried? It is either a gas issue or a firing issue.
