manual or auto. stick or slush?most A/T cars have a cable, and can be adjustedif the trans does not engage reverse.try this.unplug the battery NEG lug, many A/T have a thing called TCMtranny brain. unplug for 2 min. and put back the lug.now the TCM must re-learn the tranny (cross fingers)do the above after checking the ATF level, this is in the glove box operators guide, lost it, its online googe for it . its everywhere and free.the trany brain many shift roughly as it learns, dont panic , this is all very very normal. for most TCMs.TCM is trans, control module) its brain.on newer cars they even have fuzzy logic now. very amazing.the even adapt to your style, , smoking cigars, and top hat and wide collar shirts.? Trunk ajar light on in message center
Look for a contact switch in the trunk. Sometimes, when the trunk (or door for that matter) gets slammed, then button gets set deeper. What's happening is door and trunk switches are "self adjusting", and a slam "Self adjusts" too far. It is hard to reset the switch without killing it. Just get another one if you find this to be your situation. Test the switch before you buy a replacment.
Sensor switch
The radiator fan is controlled by the computer which uses the signal from the engine coolant temp sensor.
Car going into limp mode in hot weather
HelloThe engine
and transmission in this cars drive train are fully
electronically controlled by a computer called the PCM (Power Train
Control Module). Whenever a problem like this occurs the computer
stores a record of the problem (there are of course some exceptions
to this, like the fuel pump, engine coolant teperature sensor and MAF
sensor for instance) in the form of a fault code in its memory, to
read these fault codes you must have the systems memory scanned with
a special tool. Once the fault code(s) are read you then must perform
the appropriate diagnostic testing to find and resolve the problem(s)
DO NOT REPLACE ANY PARTS UNTIL THE DIAGNOSIS & TESTING IS
COMPLETED.
Transmission is going in gear every time but the car won't drive every time
Have a look at the automatic transmission fluid. Under the hood should be 2 long dipsticks, usually they have a colored plastic handle so you can see them more easily. You will need to identify them, perhaps ask a friend for help. One dipstick is for motor oil, the other for automatic transmission fluid. The automatic transmission fluid should be redish in color, that is a dye put in the fluid so you know it is not motor oil.Check that fluid, your owner's manual in the glove box will tell you whether to warm the eingine up first before you check it.If the fluid is low, add some with a long funnel, only add a pint at a time, and check it about 5 minutes after you add it. Repeat this until it shows full.Car parts stores sell quarts of automatic transmission fluid. If you pull the dipstick from the transmission and it is not low, and the fluid is clean (not black coloured), you may either have a transmission that has failed, or your brakes may be sticking ( like the emergency brake is on).Be blessed
