Removal of automatic transmission
You will need a transmission jack (buy or rent), and wheel ramps or very good jackstands. Raise the front wheels and support it properly. Set the parking brake and block the rear wheels. Disconnect the driveshaft at the rear axle. You may need to remove part of the exhaust system if it is in the way. Disconnect the shift linkage and vacuum line, and any other wires or cables. Remove the plate at the bottom of the bellhousing and unbolt the torque converter from the flex plate (flywheel). Get the transmission jack under it and then remove the transmission mount bolts and the bolts attaching it to the motor. Once you get everything disconnected, pull it back about 4 to 6 inches, it should separate from the motor and can be lowered down and rolled out.
Reverse the process to reinstall. You might want to get a shop manual that will give complete details and pictures, well worth the minor cost.

You will have to remove the inner panel for the gate (look at the panel from within the bed) to gain access to the latch mechanism. This can be done with the gate up. From there you will be able to see what the problem is. I suspect that your handle has either come out of adjust or the linkage has worn badly. Usually this is a broken piece such as the handle attachment where the linkage attaches to the handle.

they are two spider gears and a axe retianing pin i don't know the the damage that you have fully but if the ring and pinion gears are not damaged you can get away with a new center section and i would suggest an install kit that is all the bearings.
Bad wiring to fuel pump
don't know how you came to this conclusion but your fuel pump harness has four wires two for the gauge and two for the pump, if you dont know what they are you go over to a auto parts place have them show you one and look at the harness to see which go to the pump now go test the pump on your truck remember when you turn the key you will only recieve power to fuel pump for a few seconds to prime the fuel line after which once it starts the computer cintrols the rest. you might have a bad crank sensor causing it to not start.

Something is loose there. Secure the front wheels with blocks, raise the back of the pickup and start vigorously shaking things (in the order of probability): exhaust line (most likely problem since its rubber bushings wear out the fastest), suspension parts, shock absorbers, transmission shaft and the wheel themselves. Finally rotate the wheels - if the noise comes from the differential you will have to take the pickup to a shop, adjusting it demands a lot of experience and good tools.

Check the fuel shut off solenoid on the drivers side of the engine. That's not the proper name but right now it escapes me. See if it has power and is shutting when the key is cycled, but the engine not started.
