I changed the Thermostat, but the heater

you need to first check the operation of the valve on the heater matrix. The heater matrix is situated in the centre of the inside of the fire wall, or in other words, behind where the stereo normally is situated on the majority of cars.Find the heater matrix, which will be surrounded by some plastic shrouding, and inspect the operation of the valve mechanism while you play with the heater adjustment. If the valve is moving, and if the matrix is warm or hot, then the valve innards may have failed. If it isn't moving however, then the issue is either with any driver motor or any cables or dials which are linked if using a manual style operation.

Car goes dead when driving

The following are the general instructions on the start of diagnosing any electronically controlled engine or transmission problem.

The engine and the automatic transmission (transmission control is only for automatics, engine is still computer controlled no matter the transmission type) in this vehicle are computer controlled and in most cases when a fault occurs a fault code is stored in the memory of the computer control module. There are exception to this, such as the Mass Airflow Meter and fuel pressure problems. What must be done is to have all the basic testing done such as a scan of the system for fault codes as well as a check with a live data scanner tool for engine functions that are not within range of normal, a trained technician is required to know what is correct and what isn't, then based on careful diagnostics done from a factory repair manual the correct part is replaced or the wiring repaired or the computer replaced (known as the PCM or ECM,ECU), which is very rarely the problem. Other basic checks must be done as well such as mechanical problems with the engine as well as engine state of tune and mileage on the engine. The transmission can have mechanical issues as well such as no gear engagement at all or a failed pump or other pressure related problems. Also engine mechanical problems can and do cause many drive-ability related problem such as rough idle and other symptoms. To run a fault code test on this year go here and read the instructions.

The serpentine drive belt is worn or stretched causing the belt tensioner to rattle. Install a new belt and it will be gone. Good luck! Scott

Passenger side window rolls down, not up.

New switch, and new motor, and still the problem! I wonder if the driver's switch (the master switch) for the pass. window is stuck in a position that won't allow for the passenger switch to operate normally. Not sure how you'd test that hypothesis without trying a new masterswitch, but maybe you can figure a way. And as you know, power for the windows is routed first through the master switch, and then to the other window switches.I would think you could get the window up if you disconnected the actuator for the power windows. Just reconnect everything after you get the window up.Good luck, Kollman.

I'm having trouble with my brakes for a 1993 cutlass ciera s and lately I been hearing a rubbing and grinding noise coming from my rear brakes could anyone tell me what kind of problem this is ?

My first question would be have you taken the drums off and looked at the brake shoes yet ?You won't know whats going on until you do.It could be worn out shoes, or a broken spring rubbing the drum, or any number of things.

The air conditioner wont turn off at all in my 1993 cutlass ciera

Replacing the AC blower motor resistor in most cases cures this problem. The blower motor resistor is located next to the blower motor and the connector is on the outside of the air ducting.

1993 cutlass a/c making loud noise

air compressor clutch bearing is failing - repair if too costly a rebuilt unit installed by yourself plus Pro - one in a can recharge of freon will be needed. If above not do able - remove main serpetine drive belt + measure and by trial and error acquire Shorter Belt to Fit everything without going around Air Conditioner pulley . Noise will be gone but no Air Cond. and this is cheapest route but getting right shorter belt Length is Time consuming .
