How do you install new battery cables
Neg is bolted to frame or engine positive at starter chase both cables to the ends and remove and replace disconnect from bat first make sure new ones are right length and put on tight k Haynes manual will help you with the finding but are very very easy to do yourself
I have a 1993 olds cutlas cierra, changed out the
I`m guessing you have the 3.3 engine. You did not specify. You might have knocked the crank sensor out.It gets the signals from the balancers. There is a special tool for replacing the crank sensor to line it up so it does not hit the rings on the balancer.Check for spark at the plugs and if you don`t have spark it is probably the crank sensor.Hope this helps.Let me know if you need more help.Good luck.
Random engine problems keep occurring then go away minutes later
You may be right in your hunch the problem is the ECM.What you describe is controlled by the computer and could be checked to verify that the computer is the cause by process of elimination. If nothing else such as a problem in the wiring harness or a relay problem is causing the issues, then the computer would be the last link.I would check the circuits involved, and then get a used computer if you decide that is the problem. You should be able to take a computer off an identical car and use it. The salvage car would need to be the same year and engine size.
No spark at the coil
Sounds like a bad crank sensor. Usually located near the crank pulley behind or under it. Disconnect wires if possible and use a socket to get it out. The crank sensor sends the power to the coil. Good luck cheers from Nova Scotia!!
Dose not exclerat
Could be a couple of things, first place I would start is the spark plug and wires you could have a bad plug which could be causing the hesitation. Next, I would have the manifold checked out by either taking it to an auto parts store and if you ask nicely they may hook the code reader up to it and depending on the code it could be a real easy fix. Worst case scenario, its the Transmission. Go the cheapest route first and have the plugs and wires checked.
I NEED TO SEE HOW
See Figures 1, 2, 3 and 4
-
Disconnect the negative battery cable.
-
Drain the cooling system.
CAUTION
When draining the coolant, keep in mind that cats and dogs are
attracted by ethylene glycol antifreeze, and are quite likely to drink
any that is left in an uncovered container or in puddles on the ground.
This will prove fatal in sufficient quantity. Always drain the coolant
into a sealable container. Coolant should be reused unless it is
contaminated or several years old.
-
Some models require you to remove the air cleaner assembly from the throttle body.
-
Some models with cruise control have a vacuum modulator attached
to the thermostat housing with a bracket. It your vehicle is equipped as
such, remove the bracket from the housing.
-
On the 4-cylinder engines, unbolt the water outlet from the
thermostat housing, remove the outlet from the housing and lift the
thermostat out of the housing. On all other models, unbolt the water
outlet from the intake manifold, remove the outlet and lift the
thermostat out of the manifold.

Fig. 2: Remove the bolts securing the housing, then pull it away
Fig. 3: Make a note as to which end of the thermostat fits in the housing
To install:
-
Clean both of the mating surfaces and run a

in. (3mm) bead of R.T.V. (Room Temperature Vulcanizing) sealer in the groove of the water outlet.
Fig. 4: Make sure both of the mating surfaces are free of any old gasket material
-
Install the thermostat (spring towards engine) and bolt the water
outlet into place while the R.T.V. sealer is still wet. Tighten the
bolts 17-21 ft. lbs. (23-28 Nm) on all but the 2.2L engine. Other
engines tighten to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm).
-
The remainder of the installation is the reverse of removal. Fill
the cooling system, start the engine and top off. Check for leaks after
the car is started and correct as required.
Hope helps (remember to rate and comment this answer).
