you must remove the back seat bottom first pull it up from the back where the seat belts are stright up then lift out the front ,then the back will either be a torx bit or a 10mm nut two of them securing it to the bottom by the seat belts once removed some sort of divider to remove ,then you should be able to see inside the trunk look for a yellow t handle hanging from the trunk lid pull that and have someone pull up on the outside and it will open.

Maybe it doesn't have one , could have electric power steering . Look under the driver side I/P on the steering column .

Sounds like you probably have blown the seat belt pre-tension-er. Any competent repair shop should have the tools able to access the SRS computer and diagnose the problem. Your SRS system is stand alone from other systems in your vehicle and it performs a self test every time the key is cycled to the ON position. If all faults are removed the air bag light should go out on its own, but in some cases the diagnostic module will need replaced along with any damaged peripheral component of the system.
