I have a Bernina 930 record, zigzag stitch it misses some zigzag stitches & does straight stitches

If your Bernina 930 record sewing machine is experiencing issues with zigzag stitches and straight stitches, here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:
  1. Check the needle: Ensure that the needle is properly inserted and not bent or dull. Replace the needle if necessary, making sure to use the correct needle type and size for the fabric you are sewing.
  2. Adjust the stitch width and length: Verify that the stitch width and length settings are properly adjusted for the desired zigzag stitch. Refer to your machine's user manual for instructions on how to adjust these settings correctly.
  3. Clean and lubricate the machine: A build-up of lint or lack of lubrication can affect the machine's performance. Clean the bobbin area and other accessible parts of the machine using a soft brush or lint brush. Apply a drop of sewing machine oil to the recommended areas as specified in the user manual.
  4. Check the tension: Improper tension can lead to skipped stitches. Ensure that the upper thread tension is properly adjusted for the fabric and thread you are using. Consult the user manual for guidance on adjusting the tension correctly.
  5. Test with different fabrics and threads: Try sewing on different fabrics using different types of thread to determine if the issue is specific to certain materials. This will help identify whether the problem lies with the machine or the materials being used.
  6. Have the machine serviced: If the above steps do not resolve the issue, it may be necessary to have your Bernina 930 record serviced by a professional. There could be underlying mechanical issues that require expert attention.
It's important to note that the Bernina 930 record is a vintage sewing machine, and finding a qualified technician with experience working on older models may be beneficial if further repairs or adjustments are needed.

How do I do a reverse stitch on Bernina 145?

Do you mean the Bernina Activa 145? If so, you can press and hold the Reverse button. The button is to the right of the needle bar; it's to the left and below the needle stop Up/Down button. The button is indicated with a raised U with an arrow at the top of the right side of the U. Note: this "quick reverse" will only work if the stitch length is <= 3mm. If you want to sew in reverse without holding the Reverse button, quickly press the button twice. Press the Reverse button once more to sew forward. This is explained in the manual for the Bernina Activa 145. The manual is available on the support page: https://www.bernina.com/en-US/Machines-US/Series-Overview/BERNINA-activa/BERNINA-activa-145 . The current link to the manual is https://www.bernina.com/BERNINA/media/Support/Sewing_Quilting_Embroidery/activa/activa_145/Documents/EN/activa-135-145-EN.pdf . I hope this helps. Cindy Wells

How do I lower my feed dogs on my older Bernina 830 Record when I can't turn my knob?

It sounds like it needs cleaning, lubricating and whilst doing that, they check the hook timing. When was is last serviced? If you use a sewing machine a lot, they need servicing every couple of years, if only occasionally, every 3 years because the gum up like yours has. If you want to attempt it yourself, you have to get behind it, spray liberally with WD40, wait 5 minutes and agitate with a 1/2" paintbrush. Rinse off with WD40 and then dry it with a shop cloth.

Where do i find the step motors in a1230

The Bernina 1230 sewing machine is equipped with two stepper motors that operate the needle and feed dogs. The locations of these motors are as follows: Stepper motor for needle position: The stepper motor for needle position is positioned behind the side cover of the sewing machine. To gain access to the motor, you will need to remove the side cover by freeing its screws. Once the cover has been removed, the stepper motor should be visible on the right side of the machine. The stepper motor for the feed dog is positioned beneath the base of the sewing machine. To gain access to the motor, you must remove the base by removing the screws that secure it. Once the base has been removed, the stepper motor should be visible on the left side of the machine. Please be aware that working on sewing machine motors can be difficult and may necessitate the use of specific equipment and skills. If you are unfamiliar with sewing machine repairs, you should probably take your machine to a competent technician.

How do I access G2 stitch series on Bernina 1530 Inspiration?

The G2 Stitch series on the Bernina 1530 Inspiration is a set of decorative stitches that are programmed into the machine's memory. To access these stitches, follow these steps:

1. Turn on your Bernina 1530 Inspiration sewing machine.
2. Use the stitch selector dial or buttons to select stitch number 800, which is the starting point for the G2 Stitch series.
3. Once you've selected stitch number 800, you can use the stitch length and width adjustment dials or buttons to customize the stitch to your desired specifications.
4. To access the other G2 stitches, simply press the "next" or "previous" button on the stitch selector panel to cycle through the stitch numbers. The G2 stitches are numbered 801 through 811.
5. Select the G2 stitch you want to use, adjust the stitch length and width as desired, and start sewing!

It's important to note that the G2 Stitch series is not available on all models of the Bernina 1530 Inspiration, so if you're having trouble accessing these stitches, it's possible that your machine may not have them. In that case, you can consult your machine's manual or contact a Bernina dealer for assistance.

Bernina 830 : How to calibrate the touchscreen through service menu ?

To access the service menu on your Bernina 830, you can follow these steps:
  1. Turn off the machine and unplug it from the power source.
  2. Hold down the Reverse and Needle Down buttons, then plug the machine back in while holding these buttons.
  3. Continue to hold down the Reverse and Needle Down buttons until the service menu appears on the screen.
From here, you should be able to navigate the service menu using the arrow keys on your machine. To access the calibration option, you will need to select the "Touch Test" option from the menu. Unfortunately, without a working touchscreen, it may be difficult to navigate the service menu. One option may be to try using an external USB keyboard, as you suggested. However, this may not be compatible with the Bernina 830, so it's not guaranteed to work. If you're unable to access the service menu or calibrate the touchscreen, it's possible that there may be a hardware issue with the machine that needs to be addressed by a professional technician.

How can I access the Service program soft keys on my Bernina 830 when the Touchscreen is not calibrated ? The soft keys on the screen have either letters or numbers, can I attach a keyboard ?

If the touchscreen on your Bernina 830 sewing machine is not calibrated, it may be difficult to access the Service program soft keys. However, you may still be able to access the Service program using the following steps:
  1. Turn off your Bernina 830 sewing machine.
  2. Hold down the Reverse button and the Needle up/down button simultaneously.
  3. While holding down these buttons, turn on the sewing machine.
  4. Continue to hold down the Reverse and Needle up/down buttons until the Service program screen appears.
  5. Once you are in the Service program, you can navigate using the numbered soft keys that appear on the screen.
As for attaching a keyboard, it is not possible to directly connect a keyboard to the Bernina 830 sewing machine. However, some users have had success using a USB to Serial adapter to connect a keyboard to their sewing machine. This method may require additional software and configuration to work properly, and it is not officially supported by Bernina.

My bernina artista180 won't power on

If your Bernina Artista 180 sewing machine won't power on, here are a few things you can try:
  1. Check the power supply: Make sure that your sewing machine is properly plugged into a working electrical outlet. Try plugging another device into the same outlet to ensure that it's working.
  2. Check the cord and connections: Check the power cord for any visible damage or wear, and make sure it's securely plugged into the sewing machine. If you see any damage or wear, you may need to replace the power cord.
  3. Check the fuse: There may be a fuse in the power cord or on the machine that has blown. Check the owner's manual for instructions on how to replace the fuse.
  4. Try a different outlet: If you're using a surge protector, try plugging the sewing machine directly into a wall outlet to rule out any issues with the surge protector.
  5. Consult a professional: If none of the above steps resolve the issue, there may be an internal problem with the machine that requires a professional technician to diagnose and fix.
If the issue persists, it may be best to contact Bernina customer support or take your sewing machine to a certified Bernina repair shop for further assistance.

Bernina Activa 130 won't turn on but has power and makes faint clicking sound

Based on the symptoms you have described, it's possible that there may be an issue with the power switch, the motor, or the circuit board of your Bernina Activa 130 sewing machine. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:
  1. Check the power cord and connections: Ensure that the power cord is securely plugged into the machine and the outlet. Check for any frayed or damaged wires in the power cord or connections, as this could cause the machine to not turn on.
  2. Check the power switch: Inspect the power switch for any damage or debris that may be preventing it from functioning correctly. You can also try pressing and holding the power switch for a few seconds to see if it turns on the machine.
  3. Check the motor: If the motor is not functioning correctly, it may prevent the machine from turning on. Try turning the handwheel manually to see if it turns smoothly. If it doesn't, the motor may be the issue.
  4. Check the circuit board: A faulty circuit board can also cause the machine to not turn on. If you're comfortable with electronics, you can try inspecting the circuit board for any visible damage or loose connections. However, if you're not familiar with electronics, it's best to take the machine to a qualified technician for repair.
If none of the above steps resolve the issue, it's best to take your sewing machine to a qualified technician or a Bernina service center for further diagnosis and repair.
