Enabling wireless I have a c700 presario and i am trying to hook it up tp my router via wireless, I cannot seem to be able to activate the wireless driver . i have downloaded the programs from lankys but it keeps telling me i need to activate the driver. How ?

tried to hooked up the LAN cable directly to the modem bypass the router if you can get an internet access there.

Unfortunately, you can't use two routers together in that manner. You must have a device in between them such as a switch or bridge or you'll have to disable the DHCP server settings in the second router. The second router then pretty much becomes a switch you may then use all the ports on the second router with the exception of the WAN port it must remain unoccupied. However, if you need wireless connectivity in another location far away from your main router then your only solution would be to indeed purchase an actual access point/bridge device

It seems to be a router configuration problem.
Please connect to your router ip adress via browser and correct the settings or run the configuration wizard to configure it.

you need a pc or laptop using a hardwired connection prior to using the router, hence the name router, it routes the hardwired conenction and broadcasts it wirelessly.

the security is enabled on the router or access point noty in the wireless adapter,,, u can connect a comp to the router or accesspoint with a cable and access the page of the router or access point and disable security in it ,,,

You need to buy a wireless router to connect to your laptop. For example the Linksys wifi router it's easy to setup just run the cdrom install in follow the instruction. and also you can setup or configure it by webase configuration of router. Just type to the internet browser IP 192.168.1.1 if the user name appears just type admin and password sometimes admin also or 1234

You didn't specify if he has DSL or Cable internet.

With DSL, keep in mind the software on the PC is what "dials out" to the ISP with your name / password, and you MUST set the name and password in the router. Otherwise, ONLY the computer that has the software installed (verizon, etc) will be able to connect.

If you're using a cable connection, you don't have to do this, however, most newer Linksys routers come with a 'setup' disk, which MUST be used regardless of connection type.
