Hi my epson stylus c86 printer, both red lights are flashing as soon as i turn my printer on. please help

Hi, Here is the meaning of the flashing red light. Red paper light flashes Paper is jammed in the printer. Press the paper button to eject the paper. If that doesn't work, turn off the printer, open the cover, and pull the paper out from the front, including any torn pieces. Then turn on the printer, reload paper, and press the paper button. Red paper and ink lights flash alternately Paper may be blocking movement of the print head. Turn off the printer, then open the cover and remove any jammed paper or other foreign objects. Turn the printer back on again. If the lights are still on, contact your dealer or Epson as described in Where To Get Help.

BOBDOYLE - can you confirm which red light is flashing? If it is the ink light, see the instructions for changing ink cartridges. If it is the paper jam light, check for a paper jam. If you still cannot fix it, come back with a new comment giving any further information.

Hi bobdoyle - sorry to be slow responding to your above comments, for some reason Fixya didn't notify me of them. The Status Monitor shows you which cartridge is empty - see the manual link above and click on "Replacing an Ink Cartridge". Let me know if you need further help on this.

Turn off printer
-check for specks of paper inside the printer or parts that may appear to be damage.
-turn printer on

If you'll get the same error lights chances are there is an internal error. Sensor mechanism might be damage.

then you , like the printer are stuck? well, then open it up, inspect it closely, and find the little paper that is inside and making it flash red..

Try to find thge combination of buttons that reset the printer. there are many possiblities due to the modles - but try pressing any 2 and whilst holding them down switch off and then on again. Also this utility could proce use full. When it is loaded -right click the task bar icon. www.ssclg.com

hi, try downloading the ssc utility (just google it). it lets you reset the ink counters, individual ink cleaning etc. once you've opened the main screen you need to right click to get all the other bits. hope this helps
