Samsung LN32C530 32 in. TV Logo
Posted on Jun 14, 2011

Have a 4 yr old 32" samsung flat screen. The screen recently has an approximately 1/4 inch wide line going horizontally across the entire screen and more recently a second line of approximately 1/3 of an inch doing the same thing. Is this something that can be easily repaired or do I throw the TV away.

It can be costly and difficult to replace the internals of any flatscreen television screen. Your best bet is to consult an electronics professional in your area for an estimate in repairs.
If you are a technically inclined person and you've got nothing to lose, you could always try ordering a new board online and attempting an install on your own.
Take a look at NewEgg, they usually have a good deal now and again on electronics parts, televisions included.

I have a 65 inch Samsung TV approximately 2 1/2 years old . Recently developed a 10 inch Parker sheeted lying horizontally across the bottom of the screen. Is this repairable? What's wrong with it?

every tv is repairable , it is just a matter of money
take it to a tv repair shop get a proper diagnosis and a quote then decide to repair or replace it
the problem that most people have is that they try diy repairs first and generally end up with a unit that is still faulty and has cost more in parts than what a new unit would have cost

Black line inch thick right hand side

Get rid of it! I started out with the small black smoky line, went to two horizontal line, , , , I now have a 10 " line half way across the screen in two places and the rest of the line is 4-6". Contact Samsung three times on line and they responded with " we do not understand the problem, please explain. Oh yeah, TV was 2.5 years old. Never will buy Samsung again.

Pink/Blue horizontal line on TV

Considering it is a 32 inch set and costs now under 300 dollars it may or may not be worth fixing.

To give an educated guess: either whatever it uses for an inverter board may be bad or damaged OR even the main board that processes all signal into or out to the screen may have either a bad connection(unlikely but possible) or be causing this.

A fatal issue could be something wrong in the screen unit (panel) itself.

I gather set is not under any warranty at this time.

Horizontal white lines across top of TV screen

Vertical hold circuit is failing.

Check capicitor in vertical hold circuit. You should have solid knowledge of electronics repair before attemping repair. TV's can emmit harmful radiation, and produce voltages up to or in excess of 30kV.

Horizontal (dashed) line across screen

On the KDFE55A20 this sounds like a bad Q-Box. I would get an estimate from a Sony authorized servicer as this part may be quite expensive. On the 55A10 model this may be the B-Block and is also quite expensive. Getting an on-sit estimate would be the first step I suggest. Again go with an authorized Sony servicer. Call Sony or go to Sony.com for customer service. Good Luck
