Re: Forgot admin password for D-Link DIR-628. How can I...
Well you can simply reset your router. There should be a small hole that says "reset" some where. Once you reset it:
Username: Admin
Password:
There is no password

The default username/password combination for this model is: username: admin password: (empty)
If you have changed the password and the default settings won't log you in, then you have to reset your router to factory default. There is no way of retrieving the password otherwise. Note: you will loose all personal settings during this step!
To reset the router: 1. Put a paper clip into the hole on the back of the unit labeled Reset 2. Hold paper clip down for 10 seconds and release. 3. The router will reboot and you will be able to log in with the default credentials.
Follow this instructions:1. connect via hard wired connection using your PC (network cable)2. open your internet explorer or any browser.3. type the numbers 192.168.1.1 on the address bar4. you will be routed to your router's settings, type admin for USERNAME: and admin for PASSWORD.5. look for the basic setup/settings6. look for the wireless settings7. under your SSID comes the WEP or WPA-PSK option8. that is your wi-fi password, then modified it and remember the password you use for you will need to enter it on your pc when you are connecting via wireless connection.you can select ASCII for password. it should be alpha numeric or combination of letters and numbers.9. select save and apply. then you are good to go.
Connect a LAN cable from the D-Link to your laptop/computer'sLAN port, open the browser on your laptop/computer and enter the D-Link'sconfiguration URL.. http://192.168.0.1 The default login = admin The default PW = blank (just press Enter)
You can now change the default password. You can now configure the wireless settings.
Now configure the wireless card in your computer/laptop withthe router's wireless settings.

Open your D-Link router's control panel by going to the IP address http://192.168.0.1/ in a web browser. You will be prompt for a password. If you did not setup a password on your router, the dlink default password is usually blank. Enter admin for the username and leave the password blank or enter your password.
Click on wireless and under security. There you will see your security key.

Hi, First, Access the router configuration utility, open a web-browser (such as Internet Explorer) and enter the IP address of the router (192.168.0.1). Select Admin from the drop-down menu and then enter your password. Leave the password blank by default. (Defaults IP Address, User Name and Password Details are also written on the underside of the router). Goto Wireless Settings - then Wireless and select 2.4GHz if you want to use the 2.4GHz band or 5GHz band if you want to use the 5GHz band. Save settings and its done.
open internet explorer and delete everything in the address bar (i.e. http://www.google.com/) and type 192.168.1.1 and press enter. Username is: admin Password: admin Go to wireless settings and write down the password or change it. Please rate if I helped
the only way I know to go about changing a password after its been established on the admin account is to restore the modem or router to its factory defaults using the reset button usually about the size of a pin on the rear of its case
Hope this helps Be sure to leave feedback thanx Robb
There is a "reset" button on teh back of the router. Use a paperclip, pencil, pen, etc. to depress the reset button for about a count of ten (this should reboot the router) then release. Your router will be reset to factory standards, including a blank password. Any changes you had previously made to your settings will be lost.
