My router won't even turn
need info... is it DOA (Dead On Arrival)? did it happened after a power loss? or all of a sudden? you should first check the AC adapter for power with the use of a multimeeter, try plugging it in a differant outlet, then you could try performing a reset (according to manual instructions) but it could be just dead... these things happen

How to get a user manual
Go to the D-Link support section of the website and look up your model, and you should be able to download manual and set-up guides as well as firmware updates.

First check your LAN cable between the router and the internet modem. Try a new cable. Reboot the router.
The final solution is a factory reset of your router. You can do a factory reset by logging into the router using you browser. Go to the settings and perform a factory reset
If you forgot the router password, you ill have to do a factory reset by locating a small hold on the back of the router and insert the tip of of paper clip for about 10 seconds while the power is on. The router will be reset to out of box status and then you can ssets-up form scratch.

Why is the globe on my D-Link DIR-628 have a steady orange light?
The orange light usually means that you are not connected.
Try this:
Step 1: go to your Windows command and type ipconfig /all, it will give you all the vital information, i.e. default gateway, dns server, ip, etc.
Step 2: Go to your browser, type 192.168.0.1 (default ip address for the router)
Step 3: Go to the Setup Tab, click on Internet Connection Setup Wizard, if you feel adventurous, select the manual internet connection setup and fill in all the information that it ask for. The wizard should be straight forward.
Step 4: Go to the top and Save Settings, it will prompt you if you are sure, click ok and the router will reboot and apply those configurations and the orange led light will turn into a green one.

Select 2.4GHz if you want to use the 2.4GHz band or 5GHz band if you want to use the 5GHz band.
