My Front Loader washer will not fill with water, It makes the sound but water does not go into the machine. I was having a problem with the washer pausing itself continously and then making draining noises even when it was not turned on. I would even unplug it and it would still make the draining noises, It still worked even with the pausing issue, i just pressed the pause button to get it going again, but now that it won't fill with water, it is pretty much useless. I have checked the filter on the bottom, it is clean and blown air through the drain line it is clear. I have tried changing the water temp it won't add water even if i have it on tap cold. I have done everything the book said. My machine is only 2 and 1/2 years old. HELP!

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
This is symptomatic of a malfunctioning water control valve- the hot water one, if the washer is hot and cold fill, and the cold one if it is just cold fill!
Sorry but it needs replacing and a service call to confirm that it is not something else ;-0(
Good luck,
John C

MY GE front loader washer won't fill with water or spin. I hear a hum when I turn it on and it sounds as if it's about to start a cycle but nothing happens.

It sounds as if your water valve is either clogged or the solenoid is stuck and not letting any water in. Here is a checklist of things you should do to help isolate the problem:
1) check to make sure the water is on
2) turn the water off and remove the water lines and verify that both the lines and the screens on the valve are clear of debris, calcium, etc.
3) take the top off the machine where you can actually see the valve, turn the machine on and see if the vavle is the humming noise that you are hearing. If so and no water is coming out then the valve is bad.

My front load washer does not seem to fill enough

At least on our GE front loader it is ok. That's why they are so easy on water.

The service light remains on and the washing will not start.

Hi, make sure there's water in tap that feed machine, if there's, lock off you water, remove hose where it's connected to machine. valve on machine where you remove hoses from, check inside you will see strainer, clean any debris that's there, could be blockage of water entering machine, washer will start only when there's water in it. if it were clog up and you clean it, then connect hoses back to machine, and try it. if that didn't work, then you will need to check, water solenoid valve, that's the same valve, your two water hoses connected to, sometimes they burnt out, especially when there's low water pressure in tap, you didn't say what type of washer you got, top loader or front loader, if you got a top loader, fill it manually(bucket) and it will start, if water solenoid valve burnt out, if you got a front loader, you won't be able to fill it manually, if these tips didn't work, you will have to call mechanic, to make other checks. good luck

Washing machine faberic softner try fills with water when in use.

hot water valve inside unit may be faulty ck it to make sure that it is powering up and then make sure it is operating. the cold and hot valve are one unit on most washers so the unit is replaced as one. if its a front loader than there might be a one way ck valve malfunctioning or the unit keeping intoducing water into the unit even though it is at the level it should be at. top loader then the level sensor is jacked and needs replaced.
