My 1996 Ford Probe will crank but wont start. After 3 to 35 minute wait it will start. Sometimes it will drag the battery down and I have to wait for it to re-energize, then it will start. What is the problem? I have had the battery checked for dead cells and it was negative. I also added fuel injector cleaner. Sometimes it sputters while driving. Does this indicate a bad fuel pump or a problem with the timing?

Once you get your Ford to start, does the engine run normally ? If yes, then timing not an issue. If no, you may consider timing, but not until other components have been checked.
Have you done any maintenance to your vehicle like a tune up, air filter / fuel filter change. Have you checked fuel pressure ?
Have you checked for any codes in the engine control module ?

SOURCE: Fuel Pump Relay

Obviously, you can jump the relay but it is dangerous on an extended basis. You'd have pressure in the lines when you don't want it there. Replace the relay if it is defective.

If you have other issues, you can check the pump back to the tank by going on the business end of the relay and looking for resistance at the pump to ground. If it is open, the pump or the harness is bad...GMs have harness issues...not Fords.

SOURCE: Could it be my fuel pump?

A fuel pump is not the problem, they either work or not, u are most likely having a loose of ignition spark, possible ignition module.

02 escape at light flashes fast key in run wont turn over

From my previous experience with anti-theft ignition switches, the most common way is to allow the key to stay in the RUN position for 10-15 minutes. The light should stop blinking. Sometimes you have to turn the key to the OFF position, wait 15 seconds then try to crank the car.

If this does not work, pull your wires from your battery. Probably wouldn't hurt to clean the points while you wait the 15 minutes for the system to reset itself. A good connection could prevent this from happening when you really Do need your vehicle to crank.

Hope this helps.

2006 st 225 stereo wiring diagram

2002 lincoln continental tries to start, then drags down real bad and wont even turn fast enough to think about starting. If I wait a few minutes, it will do the same thing, about a full turn, fires, then drags down. Cant figure out what is causing this.

2002 impala intermitenly wont start

I would clean the battery connecters or possibly change them. How old is the battery? sometimes when battery get old, they have enough juice to crank the motor but not enough to start it..But then again, if it doesn't crank at all sometimes, it could certainly be a bad or loose battery terminals..Start with this since its the simplest and easiest and could very well be your problem. hope this helps

1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee wont start with the first turn.

It seems like your battery and starter are okay. I'd be more inclined to make sure engine has a good regular spark, and fuel pressure. From what you've said, I'd first check the distributor cap for any cracks or moisture...hope this helps.
