IM LOOKING FOR THE DRIVERS FOR, IM LOOKING FOR DRIVERS FOR A HITCHI DVD ROM MODEL NUMBER GDR-8162B 2003 NOVEMBER CAN U HELP

HP Partsurfer does not recognise gdr-8162b at all, nor does anything show up for this code anywhere on the HP site.
eBay sellers seem to think this is DVD-ROM drive, manufactured by Hitachi-LG and sometimes rebranded by HP whose part number (according to some eBayers) is 323588-001.
HP Partsurfer also thinks that 323588-001 is a DVD-ROM drive.
I'm afraid therefore that I'm unable to find an ethernet driver for this code without more info on the HP product.

You should not need a driver for a CD/DVD drive. Drivers are built into windows.
If you are having problems, you could try uninstalling the device in device manager, and let windows re install the drive.

Check Ebay, I see several on there for that model.

Because that is an old style drive, about the only place you will find a replacement is on ebay.
The seller would know if their drive is compatible with yours to switch the board out on.

YES IT IS COMPATIBLE WITH XP PPROFESSIONAL. CHECK THE CABLE THAT CONNECTED TO MOTHERBORD. AND ALSO THE PORT OF MOTHERBOARD.

have you tried going to the manufacturers website to down load the software ? pending you do have internet access .

older dvd drives can not load vista buy or, use a better grade dvd r/w drive to install vista

ok...well...what computer are you using? you may find those drivers here, among the six we support

Try uninstalling them in devive manager then rebooting and see 
if they are reinstalled automaticaly as drivers should be in xp already.

Just right click on them and select uninstall.

If that doesnt work then try update drivers and let xp search online for them.

Failing that then try changing the cable thats attatched to the motherboard.
