How do I move a Husqvarna zero turn mower when it won't start? I thought that it had a "neutral" position to roll the machine, but I can't find it in the manual.

There is a lever on the back of the machine (yours may have two), down low on the back plate. Pulling the rods out will release the transmission so that the mower may be rolled.

W/D - what are you calling the back plate. I lifted the seat and looked underneath, but don't see any rods. I know I did it previously, but that was 7 years ago! Thanks for your help!

Further back, on the rear of the machine. Sometimes the rod(s) are made with notches formed into them, and they slip out of position. --W/D--

When parking brake is moved off position, the engine shuts off on my rz5426 zero turn mower.

One of the safety switches is bad or not making contact. Check the switches on the levers and the seat switch.

Sorry but the simple answer is no, reverse is traditionally set to be slower, if you start adjusting things you will ultimately lose speed forward and probably upset the neutral.

First check your battery, it should be around 12.5 volts, if not it is the battery. Because you changed the deck belt, is the mower a manual engaged deck? Make sure the safety switches are working properly. Seat switch, brake switch. When trying to start, do you get 12 volts to the starter? If not, check the 20 amp fuse.

Read the manual. These so called "problems" are standard safety features that someone should have gone over with you. Sounds like poor salesmanship. When starting the mower the bars should be out and the park brake pulled. Then disengage the parkbrake and pull the arms in to drive the mower. Do exactly the opposite to get off the mower. I just bought one today every model I looked at was like this.

My bet would be a saftey switch. On most riding mowers there are several switches that must be actuated before it will start. First, make sure that blades are disengaged. If there is a handle that engages and disengages them, you might try holding it in the dis-engage position in case the switch is out of adjustment. There is probably one under the seat also. This switch kills everything if you are not sitting in the seat for safety reasons. Also, make sure the parking brake is set, and the gear is in neutral, and not forward or reverse.
Hope some of this helps.
