Why does my internet light always flashes on and off and my dsl light

I recentley bought a dsl 2320b modem and now found out that it isn't supported with dlink anymore. There is no internet light on and the status light flashes very little. power light is red. dsl is steady...

Do you have an Internet service provider (ISP), like AT&T or Verizon (if you live in the US) ? Usually, your ISP will give you a modem/router (cable or DSL) for free when you sign up with them for Internet service.

Other lights blinking but internet light is blinking for 2-3 times them off all the time so I am not getting internet

On most DSL modems, normal light states are:

Power - Solid
DSL - Solid
Internet - Solid or flashing quickly when data is being transferred.
Ethernet - Only on and flashing quickly if cable attached to it and an active device
Wifi - Solid or flashing with active data transfer

When i plug my dlink DSL-2640U router the lights start flashing and every time it flashs the wireless just drops down and i have to enable it from the settings .. then the router's lights flash an

The led always flash with activity. They are transmitting and receiving data. If they stop flashing your ISP signal has stopped. Could you explain this statement" the wireless just drops down and i have to enable it from the settings"?

A problem has occurred when trying to access the internet. Please check your DSL/Cable connection and verify your internet connection settings. Wtf is this ? Firmware update doesnt helped. .

Cables connection might loosen up. Check cables that runs from the wall jack going into your modem, make sure all cables are tightly plugged in. Also, check indicator light on your device. If DSL light is RED, OFF, flashing red, flashing green. there might be trouble with your Internet provider. DSL light indicator MUST be always on STEADY GREEN. If you see that the DSL light is not on STEADY GREEN status call your Internet service provider.

There will be 4 lights...

Power
Dsl
Internet
Ethernet

Power light indicates power supply is good...
Ethernet light indicates connection between modem and computer is good...
DSL light indicates connection between modem and telphone line is good... Also DSL light should be steady and it should not flash...
If it flashes then it says there is a lot of noise in telephone line...
Internet light says whether the internet status is connected or not...Internet light can flash depending upon the internet activity...

I have a flashing icon on my WRT120N linksys router and when i connect my dsl modem to it, i have no internet connection. How do i fix this?

check the line has internet service enable (telephone provider),
check the microfilters on each telephone plugs
check the dsl light stays always on. if not is a line/provider service problem.
enter the router webpage.
configure the user and password internet acess codes. (check the internet provider for your internet account)
check the internet light turns on

I have had problems connecting to internet all weekend (internet - red light), am on now but internet and ethernet green light keep blinking, is this ok.

No because dsl light should be solid green light. You need to contact your ISP to check if there is a problem on the network.

if your internet light on the modem is blinking or flashing, then you do not need to worry. the Ethernet light and the internnet light on the modem will always blink, but the dsl and the power lights shud not blink...

Flashing dsl light

The DSL light flashing on the modem is natural for it means the device is synchronizing. But if the DSL light continues to flash, you have to wait a while before connecting, it shouldn't take more than a minute. If it does, you may need to contact your service provider because that is uncommon whether there is active Internet connection or none.

ok this sounds easy
heres your problem you
DsL is a glorified phone connection its not smooth and is always in a state of flaux along with your neighbors there neighbors so on and so forth
technecoly i would run cable connection that does not flaux with neighbors always have a strong signal and wont interfere with your videos
DsL is slow as 58 bit data fax modem i found it a waist of money and time waiting for system to play catch up
now if you want to play videos with out interupt turn off cable dsl modem this will bring function back to normal in video mode
your comps fine its just your service provider

Dear Wendy

if the lights are blinking while the internet is working then it means that the data is being transfered. ON/OFF rapidly means data transfer.
but if the link light is steady for a while and then starts blinking it means its trying to connect to the exchange.

so dont get worried about internet lights blinks.

It is simply showing that there is traffic flowing from the router thats all and is nothing to worry about

If the DSL light goes SOLID (not flashing) then that usually indicates a problem and often just turning off the router for a short while and then switching on will fix it. if it does not then turn off your modem and do the same.
