It sounds like possibly your transformer has failed or it could be an internal ground failure from your transformer to the magnetron.
It can most likely be repaired but needs done by a trained technician. If it were to be diagnosed with what I state could be wrong you would be ahead to get a new unit as opposed to paying for parts and labor to repair.
If you smell something burning in it do not run it any more, you could start a fire. I would also kill the power to it via unplugging, breaker, etc.
Countetop microwave ovens are almost non-repairable now, as they are inexpensive to buy, and can be just as costly to fix. If it smelled, it's not a cheap fix. I'd recommend buying a replacement.
