It sounds like it locked up. Hold the Power Button down for 15 seconds. The machine will power off and allow you to turn it back on.This is not recommended to do all the time - but in your situation it's your best bet.

Transferring data/programs from Mac book to iMac using Ethernet cable. All was going well till last minute, and it has been stuck on that for 3+ hours. Don't know what to do. Help please Elise

Assuming the MacBook has FireWire, get a firewire800 cable. PLug it into both Macs FireWire ports. Shut down MacBook, restart and hold T key = target disk mode. MacBook will appear as any other mounted external drive on your desktop. *From there, you can either manually drag files over or open Migration Assistant on the iMac and migrate user/data/ apps.

How do i fix mac that keeps shutting down during live streaming.

Shutting down of just display going black?
If latter, you can keep touching screen to let it know not to sleep; or go to the system controls and set "sleep" to 1 hour or longer.

MacBook Help

To create a new folder on the desktop right-click on the mouse and select New Folder from the drop-down menu.
If you do not have a mouse connected, press the control key while clicking the desktop background, and select New Folder from the drop-down menu. The folder should appear near the area of the desktop you clicked with 'untitled folder' highlighted in light blue. You can now type a name for your new folder. Press return/enter when you are done naming your folder.

My Mac Book Air have just white screen upon swithing on. Nothing more

Insert your installation disk that came with the mac and hold the "c" key while turning it on, this will force it to boot from the cd drive. Choose your language from the selection screen, I'm going to assume English, and choose Utilities --> Disk Utility from the drop-down menu on the top of the screen to open the Application. From there select the Mac partition of your Hard Drive on the left which should be called "Macintosh HD if you did not change it. In the "First Aid" tab, you will see two buttons on the bottom right hand corner of the window, "Verify Disk" and "Repair Disk." First Verify the disk, then Repair it, if it does not work at that point you will likely need to format your Hard Drive. If you do not want to lose any work and can't retrieve it any other way; get an external laptop HD case (specs are 2.5 inch by standard 9 mm, but could hold thicker like the 12 mm Western Digital Blue Caviar line above 500 GB) from Radioshack or similar, it should run you about $25. Transfer or backup any data you want to keep to your desktop, external or similar from there and format the disk and reinstall Mac OS. Cheers.

MacBook Desktop Lost My Desktop Folders

Hello, it semms that you have a "permission" issue, or that you are accesing another account on the computer without noticing it. Please repair disk and permissions from the disk utility on your install DVD:

- Insert install DVD
- reboot the mac holding the C key
- choose english
- Go to the utilities menu and choose Disk Utility
- In the disk utility window, SOS tab, select your drive, and hit repair disk and repair permissions
- reboot

Also check that you are accessing the account that you want and not another one: log out, and log in...
