You need to check the setup ..

The telephone line which is coming from out should be connected to the line 1 of the printer and Telephone answering machine should be connected to Line 2 .

2. You also need to check that after how many rings the Telephone answering machine answers the call you have to keep the "Rings to answer" 2 less than that of Telephone answering machine.

Lets assume that your Telephone Answering Machine answers the call after 4 rings then keep the rings to answer in All in One to 2

How to set Rings to Answer

1. Press the Setup button on the Front panel of the printer

2. Scroll Down and go to Basic Fax Setup - Select it

3. Scroll down and got to - Rings to Answer - Select it

4. Set the Rings here and then try Fax

it will fix the problem :)

MY X5650 WILL SEND FAXES BUT NOT RECIEVE THEM

Are you sharing your home phone line with your fax? If so, do you have a voicemail or an answering machine connected in the same line?

If you have an answering machine connected to the same line as the fax, set the answering machine to answer incoming calls before the printer does. Increase the number of rings by a factor of 3 over the answering machine. For example, if the answering machine is set to pick up on 4 rings, set the printer to pick up on 7 rings.

If you have a voicemail feature in the same line as the fax, you may subscribe from your phone service provider for a distinctive ring pattern feature. You can program your printer to have a distinctive ring pattern and phone number for incoming faxes.

I have a HP Officejet 6500 wireless all in one printer. When I try to fax it says sending but then I get a "no answer" result. What should I check?

Tell it to send a FAX to your cell-phone or iPhone number.
When your phone rings, answer it.
Then, check the status on the HP OfficeJet.
It should switch from "calling" to "answered" to "synchronizing/negotiating".

Will send a fax but want recieve one

>> but want recieve [sic] one

Do you WANT to receive a FAX ?

If so, you need to connect a telephone-wire from one of your telephone-outlets to the modem-port on the All-In-One unit.

>> but want recieve [sic] one

Are you saying that it WON'T receive a FAX?
Precisely what happens when somebody tries to send a FAX?
Does the All-In-One "answer" the telephone-call?
How many seconds does the telephone-call last, before the All-In-One "hangs-up" the call?

Fax feature

You have to set the printer to pickup 2 rings higher than your answering machine. If the answering machine picks up on 4 the printer should pick up on 6.

I believe the menu should be Setup button - down arrow key until you see basic fax setup and press ok - down arrow key until you see rings to answer and press ok - change to 2 higher than answering machine.

Now you should receive faxes and calls!
