From manual: Insert document; press Scan & Fax button; dial number; press Start/Copy.  All pages will be scanned, number will be dialed, and scan will be transmitted.  If Memory Full displays, repeat procedure without using Scan & Fax button.

I cannot send. It tells me there is No Answer. Receiver tells me everything is ok on their end.

Has the receiver gotten faxes (from other senders) since your problem started? It sounds like the receiving fax is not answering the call. Also to determine if it's your problem or the receiver's problem send a test fax to someone else.

HP 6310 All-in-One. How do I get a fax confirmation?

If you need printed confirmation that your faxes were successfully sent, follow these instructions to enable fax confirmation before sending any faxes. Select either On Fax Send or Send & Receive.

The default fax confirmation setting is Off. This means that the HP All-in-One will not print a confirmation report for each fax sent or received. A confirmation message indicating whether a fax was successfully sent appears briefly on the display after each transaction.

To enable fax confirmation from the control panel

1. Press Setup.

2. Press 2, and then press 3.

This selects Print Report and then selects Fax Confirmation.

3. Press to select one of the following, and then press OK.

Off Does not print a fax confirmation report when you send and

receive faxes successfully. This is the default setting.

On Fax Send Prints a fax confirmation report for every fax you send.

Fax

On Fax Receive Prints a fax confirmation report for every fax you receive.

Send & Receive Prints a fax confirmation report for every fax you send and

Some machines have a three answering modes.
1-manual-you have to pick up the fax headset and then press send when someone calls you with a fax.
2- auto-The machines answers the phone line when it rings and receives the fax automatically.

Please tell me how to change my Brother Fax 1020 Plus to receive faxes only. At the present it is receiving both fax and phone calls.

for dedicated fax use you have to press "Mode" button repeatedly until on the right side of the display it appears "FAX". Now you should have "F/T" on the display and you must press "Mode" button three times.

Will not fax or copy - Given error light

The thermal roll is basically a roll of 'carbon' like paper that is used to transfer the image to your paper (terrible technolgy, and a massive waste of money for the end user....but that's another story)...it likely needs replacing -it's only good for 300-400 pages.
