Hi, I slammed the lid shut and the screen lights in the lower right corner for a 2 seconds and then it all goes black on my tosiba m 115 laptop. Should I replace the screen and/or the inverter?

The inverter board is easier to change and the least expensive, but I would check your cable connections from the motherboard to the monitor. Have you tried hooking a external monitor to the video output on the back of the laptop to check for picture? because I assume your laptop is working, but if it's not It would be a motherboard problem. If you can provide more information that narrows the scope down and helps me to help you.

Connect the laptop to an external monitor, if image comes on it means it's the LCD screen, if same thing happens then it's the inverter.

When i close the lid on my netbook the power goes off

Hi,
Right click the battery icon located in the system tray (lower right corner of your screen) and click to select 'Power Options'. Once the power options window pops up, click to select 'Choose what closing the lid does' link on the left pane. Then you can choose the power settings that you may prefer. ^__^

My Imac crashes. 10.6.4, 2 GB ram, 2 GHz core duo. I've started with a clean install and disabled (one by one) all start up apps. Out of the clear blue, the screen will go black & I have to turn it...

When you say "screen goes black," does the computer power down, or is it still operating? Does the sleep light come on? Does it respond to the keyboard and mouse? (Example: press the power button momentarily, wait a few seconds for the "Do you really want to shut down" message to appear, even though you can't see it, then hit the return key to answer "OK," and see if it shuts down.) Does the screen go black or come out of black if you tap the computer?
While your computer is working, go to System Preferences / Desktop & Screen Saver, the Screen Saver tab, click Hot Corners, and set a corner of your screen to Put Display to Sleep. Then next time your screen goes black, mouse your way into that corner, pause a few seconds, then mouse back out and see if your screen returns.

Dell Latituse D600 display goes dark

Hello,

The picture board on your monitor is faulty or bad, since it goes black after few seconds, it means the picture board of your laptop has developed fault.

The best thing for you to do now is to take the laptop to a local repairer within your vicinity to help with the replacement of the picture board because the fault is not something you can fix yourself. in order not to complicate issues.

Take care.

Slammed the lid down on my laptop, & it doesn't work

you most likely damaged the LCD or dislodged the cables from system board to the LCD. Also check for a small button or "nub" near the base of the screen, is it stuck or broken? this turns off the screen when lid is closed, slamming may have got it stuck.

if you have an external monitor. shut off the laptop, connect the video cable from external monitor and turn on laptop...do you get video?

if yes, your LCD is damaged and needs service. if no, you have done far more damage and need to have the whole thing diagnosed at a service center.

Slammed ZToshiba A135-2276 will not boot

I'm not sure why you slammed the system shut, bu if it was to do with a system performance issue, the most likely answer is that the hard disk drive is or has failed.

If running Windows XP, boot to recovery console, see if you can run chkdsk on the drive. If Vista, boot to the DVD and run repair my computer.

Most likely, if those options do not get the system to boot, a hard drive replacement may be in the cards.
