20 Most Recent Toshiba Satellite A135-S2276 Notebook Questions & Answers

I don't know what exactly fixed the problem but I managed to fix it. I'm using a Toshiba Satellite A215 by the way.

Here's what I did
Control Panel >> System Maintenance >> Device Manager

Go to Imaging Devices and right-click "Chicony USB 2.0 Camera" and choose "Update Driver Software"

First I clicked on "Search automatically for updated driver software" but everything was already up to date. So then I went to "Browse my Computer for Driver Software" and then to "Let Me Pick from a List". I updated the USB Video Device and rebooted but that only made it worse I think. Then I tried updating one of the "Chicony USB 2.0 Camera"'s and that did the trick. Yey. So now my webcam works.

It it normal, especially flash videos.

Download the 8187b drivers from Realtek's site. You then need to go in and edit the .inf file to read like this:

After the edit, install as usual from the device manager.

I have a Satellite A135-S2356 that had the same problem. I tried the solution from PCTServices above and it worked great.

"Power unit off. Disconnect AC power. Remove battery. Remove the memory cover screw, memory cover and the memory modules. Peel back mylar from JOPEN1 solder pad. Short JOPEN1 solder pads for 30 seconds. Replace mylar. Replace memory modules. Replace battery. Power up unit. If all is well, replace memory cover and screw."
Just short the two little solder pads and it worked great! I thought I would have to send it back to the manufacture but I am back in buisness. Thanks for the help.

you need to upen up your toshiba, and disconnect the internal battery, not the big one. Or, maybe a simpler method - call toshiba to check if there is a master password from them... :-)

Available RAM is very important for speeding up your laptop while surfing. Check your available RAM by:

1. Starting the Task Manager (Right click on taskbar and select it)
2. Select the Performance Tab
3. Compare the Physical Memory vs Commit Charge numbers.

For example, my fast computer has 3600 megs of total physical memory compared to a commit charge of 1200 megs. Meanwhile, my older, slow computer has only 650 megs of total physical memory with a commit charge of 1400 megs. This means the slow computer is always making 'pretend' memory from hard drive space, and that is why it is so slow. This is most likely the case with your computer as well.

If i were you i'd download and install both the Media Players. You can play HD movies with Media player classic and just about anything with vlc media player.

F2 key method Turn the computer on. If you see an invitation to press the F2 key to enter Setup, do so. The Setup screen will appear. Toshiba Hardware utility method Run the Toshiba Hardware utility from the Toshiba Console. It may also accessible (as 'HWSetup') from the Windows Control Panel. Changes to some of the settings will require re-starting the computer. This method is the only way to access the BIOS settings on some notebook PCs (Satellite 5000 series, for example). (For these machines, pressing and holding the F12 key immediately after powering-on the notebook will allow you to alter the notebook's boot priority.) If the Toshiba Hardware utility is not present, try the F2 key method and the Esc key method (see below). The Toshiba Hardware utility may be downloaded from the Toshiba support website at //support.toshiba.com If the computer is fully off, and/or to avoid having to re-start it (and Windows), use one or the other of the following two methods. It is possible that your VGA is malfunctioning. But you will notice it when the screen resolution is set to a specific resolution and color depth.
Games play at it's own resolution. Not at the resolution you set for Windows. Probably WoW is setting the screen resolution and color depth to a values at which the VGA fail.
Did you try changing the screen resolution in WoW options? If not try it. Also try changing color depth.
Also, download GPUZ and check your VGA.

have you installed any other software recently? you might try system restore and if that didnt work,try uninstalling and reinstalling your webcam driver

When I turn on the computer...
I get a message " Bootmgr is compressed"
and to press CTR (t) ALT (t)

and when I do, the screen returns to the
top message: Bootmgr is compressed.
