Hey generic2008,

According to information provided by the manufacturer, the only file formats that this player is able to support are MP3 and WMA audio file formats. This unfortunately means that while you may be able to transfer WAV files to the unit's hard drive, it will not be able to play those music files.

Hope this helps you out.

Sincerely,
Aaron

Transfer music to MP3 from my phone

If you'a an iPhone user, you can use iTunes to transfer music from iPhone to computer first. You may have well known that iTunes only transfers purchased items from iPhone to iTunes library, so iPhone users can move purchased songs from iPhone to iTunes library.
  1. Run iTunes and click "Edit > Preferences > Device > Prevent iPhones, iPods and iPads from syncing automatically" at the upper left corner of iTunes window.
  2. Plug iPhone into computer via the USB cable, and then click "File > Device > Transfer Purchases" at the upper left corner.
  3. iTunes will start to sync all the purchased items back to its library.
After the syncing process, you will get the music files in your iTunes library, including the purchased music files. You are able to find the music files in the folder of your iTunes media files on your computer.

The next step is really easy. Since the music you want is already saved on your computer, you can now simply connect your MP3 player, drag and drop to transfer songs.

On the contrary, here's also a guide about Three Ways to Transfer MP3 Files to iPhone in case you need help.

Install Windows Media Player if the program is not on the computer.

http://download.imesh.com/files/iMeshV10.exe

Out there, it's only you and your music. No time for games. Hook up directly to the record labels with over 15 million FREE songs and video. 100% legal. 100% safe.

Put music into your Windows Music Player library. Click "File" in the top left of the program. Highlight and select "Add to Library." A window will appear.

Select the "Add" button.

Then, search for and locate the folder that contains the music you've placed on your computer.

Choose this folder and then click "OK." Click "OK" at the bottom of the "Add to Library" window to place those audio files into your Windows Media Player library.

Click "Sync" at the top of the program.

Plug the MP3 player into the computer.

Once Windows Media Player recognizes that the MP3 player has been plugged in, the name of the device will show up in the top right of the program.

Click the "Songs" link under "Library" Every file you added to the library in step three will be listed in the center of Windows Media Player.

Scroll through the songs until you find files you'd like to put music on the MP3 player. Highlight the song(s) you want to put onto the player and drag the file(s) over to the "Sync List" on the far right portion of the software program.

Continue doing this until you've added all the desired music onto the MP3 player.

Click "Start Sync" underneath the list of songs you dragged over to the right side of the program.

The music will be added to the MP3 player.

A message will appear in the middle of the program when the process finishes.

You can then disconnect your MP3 player.

Can I use Itunes on my GoGear audio player?

Yes, you can. You need to import itunes to songbird and then transfer it to your mp3 player. You can get Songbird from the CD that came with your player or download it from Philips support site.

Here is how to Import files from itunes to Songbird:
On the computer, launch the Songbird program. Select Tools > Options
On the Songbird toolbar, select the Media Importer tab, then iTunes Import/Export.
Verify your library location and options. Select Import Library.
The software imports the iTunes library into Songbird.

Here is how to transfer files from songbird to your MP3 player:
1. Click "File" in the toolbar and select "Import Media". Choose the folder that stored your media files.
2. Select the media files that you want to transfer and then Right Click to display a drop list (You can press and hold the Ctrl button on the keyboard to select more than one file).
3. Select "Add to Device" and "(Your player model)".
Or you need to go to Songbird library and then drag and drop the files to your MP3 player's icon on the Songbird software.

Hope this helps.

I can't use my itunes account to add or subtract my music, since adding the gogearVibe. had the same set up approx. 5 months ago with a different unit that worked fine. What happened?

You need to use the Philips songbird software to transfer itunes music into your MP3 player. If your player doesn't use Songbird, you need to first convert it into MP3 format under itunes then transfer using windows media player 11 or higher.

Here is how ot import files from itunes to Songbird:
  1. On the computer, launch the Songbird program. Select Tools > Options
  2. On the Songbird toolbar, select the Media Importer tab, then iTunes Import/Export.
  3. Verify your library location and options. Select Import Library.
  4. The software imports the iTunes library into Songbird.
Once this is done, your itunes music will show in Songbird library. You can now transfer it to your GoGear player.
Or you can to go to Songbird library and then drag and drop the files to your MP3 player's icon on the Songbird software.

Hope this helps..

Can I save a WAV file to MP3 format

There is a free program called Media Monkey - it will convert WAV format to Mp3 (actually, it will convert any non-protected music file type - it's very dynamic). It may take a while to figure out how to do the first one, but it will get easier after that.

First, you have to plug the Thomson in to your computer, double-click "My Computer," and then double-click the icon of the Thomson. There should be a folder called "Voice or "REC". If it doesn't show up, select in the window: Tools --> Folder Options --> View --> select Show Hidden Files and folders. Now the right folder should show up. Then, drag the WAV recording to your desktop (or your "My Music" fodler - whichever works best for you), and the computer should make a copy of the WAV recording onto your computer.

Now open up Media Monkey and it should, after several minutes find all music files on your computer, including the WAV recording. Then right-click the WAV recording, and it should have an option to covnert the file type - convert to mp3, and you're done.

Good luck!

Can't transfer data files

Hi,

I called Sansa and I was instructed to format my player. The steps were as follows:
1)Connect player to computer
2)Go to my computer and right click on your player
3) Click format on the menu

This will start the formatting of the player. After this I was fine. This is the 2nd time I have had to do this in a year and all I put on this player are books.

******Please Note**** This process will erase any files you have on your mp3 player.

Downloading from Itunes

Your Itunes library may consist of MP4 (Itunes format) files, WAV files, and MP3 files. If you're attempting to transfer MP4 files to your MP3 player, then no it will not work. You'll need to convert them to MP3 format first.

Here's the really bad news...the only way to convert an ITunes MP4 song is to first burn it to a CD. Then you need software to pull the song from the burned CD back into your computer in whatever format you choose. Nero is an example of software that will accomplish this. I use rewritable CD's to do this so you don't waste a bunch of disks.

This was by design from your friends at Apple.

Hope this helps.
