Bose Wave Radio, Model AWR1-1W When turned on radio emits a loud buzz and no other sound. Pushing tuning, volume, and aux buttons has no effect. Is this fixable? If so, how?

First make sure you haven't selected Aux or CD by mistake. Push the Radio button on the remote and try to tune. If that doesn't work, try unplugging the power cord. Wait 10 seconds, then plug it back in. This resets the system, which may fix your problem.

Make sure you haven't pushed the Mute button on the remote by mistake. Push it again or the Volume^ button to release mute. Also make sure the radio isn't on CD or AUX. Push the Radio button to return it to radio listening.

in your boss amplifire system hardware problem in u try to mute and volume button please check aux port also if found no output sound then go boss service station there are some hardware problem

Hi, When you change the Aux turn the radio off. Then turn it back on. As for the static move the radio to another plug or to a different room. If you have floresecent lighting it may do that too.
The cord acts like an antenna so don't bundle the cord. Good luck.

There are several types of Bose Wave Radios - the one pictured (the others likely do, too) have "Line Out" and "Aux In" jacks. Each consists of a Left and Right pair of RCA type jacks. Simply connect the "Line Out" jacks of one of the radios to the "Aux In" jacks of the other. Select the "Aux" source of the radio that has the cable connected to the Aux In jacks. Whatever is playing on the main radio (CD, Tuner, or other input) will be heard on the second radio - if the Aux source is selected.

Power supply capacitors have dried out and need to be replaced.

Unfortunately, Bose does not release their parts lists or schematics, effectively creating a monopoly for parts and repairs. In fact, their web site says that the Bose factory is the only option for service or repair. They used to list a flat rate repair charge on the web site, but removed it - probably because it scared too many people. Their troubleshooting guide (below) might help, but it's very simplistic.

Before you invest in expensive factory repair on one of these trouble prone sets, you might want to investigate the new HD radios -- better sound at a MUCH lower price.

phoned bose as i have similar prob, bose said remove the 9 volt batt under base leave for ten mins then plug into mains without bat and try again if this fails it needs to go to bose.

The Bose engineers in their "infinite" wisdom developed a $300 radio with no, that is NO, tone control. This means the only way to tune bass response is to reposition the Wave radio itself. If you put it in a corner of a room, it will produce the most bass. If it is only against one wall, not so much bass. To reduce bass response to a minimum, you would have to suspend the device from a wire in the middle of the room. Good luck. I would never buy a radio without a tone control; I literally inherited by Bose Wave Radio and use external speakers which do have tone controls.
