Did the needle screw (also called thumb screw) become loose and the needle dropped?
Replace the needle, you may have bent it. Even if it is not visible to the eye.

How can I fix the needle assembly on my Bernina 930 Record...it all of the sudden doesn't move up and down?

There is a screw-in "hub", a round thingie, to tighten on the end of the machine, in the middle of the big spinning wheel. Hold the wheel and turn the hub clock-wise to tighten it ("Righty-Tighty, Lefty-Loosy).

It may be a bit tight to start with, they can "jam" open. Just turn it firmly as needed.

The reason the hub tightens and loosens is so you can run the machine quite fast when filling a bobbin up with thread without having all the gears and werkin's clatter as you do so.

Here is a VIDEO (better than just a photo, yes?) on how to operate your very model sewing machine! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=drLD66Wa7U0

Bernina artista 180 is stitching totally Irelevant stitches to the button touched. is it a motherboard problem?

FIRST THING. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A SATIN FOOT. THIS FOOT HAS A CUT ON THE BOTTOM TO ALLOW THE THREAD TO MOVE SMOOTHLY W/O SNAGS. SECOND: GET GOOD THREAD THAT DOESN'T CLOG UP AT YOUR NEEDLE. WHEN YOU THREAD YOUR MACHINE MAKE SURE YOU DO IT WHILE THE FOOT IS UP. AS YOU ARE GOING THROUGH EACH GUIDE SLIGHTLY TUG FOR SNAGS. CONTINUE UNTIL THE NEEDLE IS THREADED. NOW PUT YOUR FOOT DOWN AND SLIGHTLY TUG AND YOU SHOULD FEEL A LITTLE TENSION. SET THE TENSION AT AROUND 3. FOUR: REMOVE TENSION AND CARRIER. WHILE THE BOBBIN IS IN THE CARRIER AND THREAD THROUGH THE TENSION SPRING BOB THE ASSEMBLY UP AND DOWN GENTLY. YOU SHOULD SEE THE ASSEMBLY EXTEND ONE INCH. IF IT MOVES A LOT THEN TIGHTEN SCREW AND IF IT DOESN'T MOVE ENOUGH THEN LOOSEN. PUT A DROP OF OIL ON THE RACE WHERE YOU REMOVED THE BOBBIN AND CARRIER AND PUT ASSEMBLY BACK. NOW, YOU CAN BRING THE BOBBIN THREAD TO THE TOP OF THE PLATE. WHAT I'M GETTING ACROSS TO YOU IS THE IMPORTANCE OF TENSION SETTINGS, GOOD THREAD, GOOD NEEDLE AND TO FIND OUT IF YOUR MACHINE IS HAVING SNAGS. NO, I DON'T THINK YOUR MACHINE HAS A BURNED MOTHERBOARD.

How do you adjust timing on pfaff 138 sewing machine

Take the foot off the machine
Remove the needle plate
Remove the feed dogs
rotate by hand until the needle is at the lowest position
continue rotating until the needle rises 2 mm
the hook assembly should be passing exactly by the scarf of the needle
if not loosen the two screws that secure the the hook assembly and rotate the hook assembly by hand until it is exactly at the scarf of the needle and the distance between the hook and the scarf is .1 mm (almost touching the needle)
tightened the two screws, replace the feed dogs and foot and it should sew perfectly

The fabric is not being moved along....I have to pull it through. If I do that it sews OK. Do you know what has happened and how to fix it?

the little teeth looking things in the needle plate are called feed dogs
check to see if there up
you should be able to see them clearly & rub your finger over them
check your manual to see where your feed dog nob is, there should be a up position for sewing & a down postition for darning

Sounds like your tension is too tight and the thread is pulling your needle. Also, make your that you needle position button is on center. If it is on left or right it will cause your needle to snap.

Threading the machinge

TTN tension, take up, needle.
Beginning with the spool, guide the thread through the thread guides to the tension assembly. Pull the thread through the tension assembly and test it to make sure the tension is working correctly.
(To do this test, adjust your tension setting to normal or medium or 5 or something in the middle. Raise the presser foot and pull the thread through the tension. It should pull easily!! Lower the presser foot and pull the thread. It should pull noticeably harder.) If it passes this test, continue up through the take up lever, then down through the thread guides to the needle. Make sure your needle is fully inserted and turned the correct way.( If you load your bobbin case from the left side, the needle rule is normally FLAT to the RIGHT is RIGHT. There are some exceptions. If you have a newer style drop in bobbin or your bobbin case loads in the front then the rule is FLAT to the BACK.
