Now right click on the program file (.exe) file in the software folder (prob on c:, folder called Futura **). Mine is different than yours...so end of file will be different, so I put ** instead). After you open the file folder...right click on the program file & choose properties; choose Compatibility; Check the run as box (mine is set to winXP 2); and check the run as administrator box. Try opening the program...if it opens...you can then do the update install.

There is a patch for Windows 7 at www.future-support.com. That site is an amazing resource for the Futuras!!

That is called the upgrade or compatibility software, and I would recommend that you search on eBay under Singer CE-200.

Mine works with Vista. :)Just install the XP patch (futura-support.com/downloads/patch.htm) and tell Windows 7 to run the software in XP mode.

My experience follows: If operating system is Windows Vista go to Singer Futura web site and down load a patch. Make sure you read and get the right one...This worked for me on one computer operating Vista...However, my laptop that is operating on Windows 7 and doesnt have the patch yet...from what I have read it is in the works waiting to be approved by Microsoft - Very Frustrating!

Worst case scenario, replace the bobbin winder for $10 on www.sewingpartsonline.com. Not a bad price, or just buy a bobbin winder from JoAnn's or Amazon. I have one and love it.

I had that problem when the machine was not threaded correctly. I now floss the thread back and forth through the tension area everty time I thread the machine, to make sure the thread is in the right place.

Make sure your thread goes under the plate of the carrousel. If not the machine think is not threaded and it beeps. Thread the machine with your left hand and Pull the thread with your other hand to make sure it "clicks" to every part of the machine.Another important detail is to add thread nets to your spool. After some used the tension of the machine is affected and the nets help the slippery thread to be pulled by the machine correctly and avoiding the beeping.

"PC" symbols on the machine panel if it is not connected to PC and switched on is a normal behaviour.
As for communication failure try to remember whether something on your pc has been changed: windows upgrade, machine got connected to another usb port etc. If any of such changes have been made try to reinstall Futura software. Otherwise launch troubleshooting utility and send its report to futura-support.

This error means that the arm is not getting the electronic information with the main machine.Make sure the arm is "leveled' with the main machine. I found this out moving gently the arm up or down. I use a piece of thick paper folded in half and put it under one side of the machine (usually the front part of the arm) and then the arm moved showing that the connection was successful.
