Hi wiggbone

Western Digital is usually given a choice, do not put the jumper to set the disk to a single drive / master, or you can refer to the stickers that were pasted on the hard disk

thanks and regards

I wish to us a WD1600 (caviar) hard drive fopr extra storage in my pc the drive came from my old PC there are eight pins to choose from. Where do I place the jumper?

Well, if this hard drive is SATA and looks like this:

Then you don't need to worry about the jumpers at all, the hard drive is ready for use in your PC.

However, if it's IDE, which looks like this:

You will need to move the pins to the "Slave" setting, and on Western Digital drives it is one set of vertical pins going away from the 4 pin power input, the above picture is set for Slave mode, and can be used as a reference.

Denon AVR-682 center channel has no output

You may have had the receiver set to "Stereo" mode, or Analog instead of "Digital" or "Auto" (automatically switches to digital when it detects a signal) modes. Also, setting it to "Direct" (2-channel from an analog source) could result in loss of center channel. Or your Surround Parameter dial (on the higher-end Denons, at least) could be set to a 2-channel mode.
Finally, if your digital inputs are incorrectly assigned (e.g., COAX1 instead of OPT1, or OPT2 instead of OPT1) for that source, the receiver will use the Analog signal which is stereo-only. You could get a center channel via Dolby Pro Logic II but it would be a "matrixed" signal, not the "real" center channel you could get via digital input using Dolby Digital or DTS.
(If all else fails, re-check your center channel speaker wire connections. It's very unlikely, but also possible, that either the receiver center channel amp or the speaker has failed.)

I have "Onkyo TX-SR304E" and PS3. Will this rcvr support PS3 in all means? Is there any special setting hat I ned to follow to get the best from my rcvr as well as PS3? Pls advise. Your help much...

what u can utilize on your tx-sr304 is the optical input at the back of the receiver. connect an optical cable from your PS3 into the receiver then follow these steps:
*make sure that the digital input on the front panel of your receiver matches where you placed the optical at the back of the tx-sr304 (either OPT1 or OPT2)
*all you have to do is keep pressing the digital input at the front panel until it goes to OPT1 or OPT2 (preferrably stay on DVD mode)
AFTER completing this go to your PS3 settings:
go to settings / then go to sound settings / then audio output settings / then set it to DIGITAL OUT (optical)/ then play and enjoy.....ü

I have two optical inputs the one one the left works wellwith my dvd player. I tried plugging my satalite into the other optical input but it won't let me change the tv button to digital

Discovered, with help, that the manual actually did cover this. Around pages 20-21 described the way that you can set which inputs each of the OPT1/OPT2/COAX inputs get assigned to. Basically scroll through the different setup options on the remote till you find the settings for the OPT2 - in my case it was set to "Off" - which explains things. Just switched to TV and voila, worked great.
